Curious . . . . I spoke to a dealer the other day who told me the word from the factory dealer rep was that "they can't keep them in stock" But yet . . . as I watch dealers, much lauded dealers whom customers tell me should be able to sell "tons of them" . . . . .I see the same bikes continuing to rest. I think folks are just dug in with this economy. But it will be interesting to see what dropping the price of the entire EBR line by $2,00 does to product sales velocity. |

I was waiting for the SX and so disappointed aesthetically that I didn't make a purchase. I was expecting / hoping for a Typhon look. Would have paid the regular RX price. I just don't get this look for an SX. Does nothing for me. |

The Typhon was a great looking bike, but a LOT of changes would have had to be made to make a streetable production motorcycle out of it. If you go back and look at the original, you'll notice it has the hard-to-produce and expensive 1190RS radiators, and NO radiator fans. Neither of those would have worked for a ~$17k street bike. I suspect there just aren't a lot of alternatives for a fully functional cooling system other than what wound up on the SX, apart from a complete redesign of the motorcycle. If you don't like the headlight, that would seem to be easy enough to modify. |

Hughlysses: I'm sure you're right. what I was expecting may not be reasonable in production. My point is that The economy has nothing to do with why I didn't buy one. Aesthetically I just don't like it. It's a shame too, I have an S1, 1125r and I was really looking forward to making a purchase this year. I can't maximize my 1125r on the street (the bike can certainly outperform my skills.) I don't need another 75 horsepower. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I honestly wouldn't pay 10k for an SX as it sits. My hope someone at EBR addresses the look for future releases and doesn't blame poor sales on the economy. |

I want a Sport-Tourer. I've been yelling that for years, hoping that the squeaky wheel will eventually get the grease. However, I took an 1190 SX out for a Demo ride when the truck was at the dealership in Westfield, MA. I was really impressed. Now, I never really cared of either of the 1125s. Others like them, but they never did much for me. I was expecting the SX to be a more powerful version of the 1125 CR, which I demo rode when it first came out and didn't much like. Instead, I found a bike that not only spoke to me, it was teaching me how to sing. And that was on a 30 minute Spirited (but not crazy) demo ride on nice, twisty backroads. I was impressed enough that I started seriously thinking about getting one and modifying it to be a Sport-Tourer. I really believe that if EBR can just get people to take a Demo ride like the one I was on, the bikes will sell. The bike is just too good and way too much fun to ride. |

Sorry for the mis-quote, Court. I read your post and focused on "I'd be amazed if it had anything in common with the 1190." (direct quote) and my brain did not accurately synopsize your statement. If it has nothing in common with the 1190, obviously it can't be an "1190AX". Those of us that have speculated the AX will be a Uly replacement are just making the logical (although possibly totally flawed) deduction that EBR would follow the Buell model evolution: Buell XB12R => EBR 1190RX Buell XB12S => EBR 1190SX Buell XB12X => EBR 1190AX What ever the 1190-or-not AX turns out to be, I do wish EBR would drop a hint or two- partially obscured "spy" shots, teaser video, 1/2 mile away photo of Cory taking a break from testing, etc. (Message edited by Hughlysses on October 14, 2014) |

It's sure going to be interesting. In the past week . . speaking to 2 dealers. . . . Dealer 1: We can't give them away. Dealer 2: EBR tells us they can't make enough to keep them in stock. We seem to have both ends of the continuum covered. I can't find anyone who can account for more than about 2 dozen sales or where those missing 100 1190RS units went. Another question . . . if they can't make them fast enough for dealers to keep them in stock . . why cut prices across the entire range by $2,00 and extend the cuts a couple more months? I guess I . . owing to my old age . . and just confused. If they are selling as slow as they seem . . .and customers are struggling, as owners report, to get even the most rudimentary service information and no manuals are available . . . I'm struggling to not think that a new model would dilute things and muddy the commercial waters. What . . . . based on what you know right now . . . do you think you'd pay for an "Adventure Bike"? If it had all the bells and whistles . . . are you willing to enter that stratified $25K bracket of the BMW? I mean . . those DO seem to be selling well. Is the "Adventure" market in the $25K range or the $7K range? The last thing I'd do . . . based on what my eyes see . . is roll out a new model . . but . hey . . ya never know. And the last one was pretty much rolled out by accident so perhaps we'll have a similar accident this week. |

In the past week . . speaking to 2 dealers. . . . Dealer 1: We can't give them away. Dealer 2: EBR tells us they can't make enough to keep them in stock. Definitely conflicting signals. $2K discount says the bikes ARE NOT selling well. Of the 8 dealers in Texas with 4 RX's and 2 SX's each, only 3 have sold ONE each. That doesn't include a 9th former dealer with 4 RX's and a Demo that has sold none. Yet if you try to order parts, many items are on backorder from the factory. If I'm EBR I don't roll out a new model this year, and concentrate on building my dealer base and taking care of existing customers. The deliver a ground breaking new model in 2015. But that's just me. Dog gone good bike though. |

I was in an Indian and Victory dealer a couple of weeks ago in NC that used to sell HDs. I was talking to a salesman there and told him they should become an EBR dealer. He didn't even know there was an EBR, even though there were magazines all over the dealership with an EBR bike on the cover (I don't remember what magazine it was). Anyway, he said no, he wasn't interested. He said he had a hard time selling Buells because of the cost when they were a HD dealership and asked me how much the EBR bikes cost. When I told him, he said that was too much. The way I see it, EBRs compete against Ducatis, not against Suzukis. It's a smaller market. The RX competes with the Panigale (sp?), the SX with the Streetfighter, and the AX will likely compete with the Multistrada. The AX can't be more expensive than the Multistrada or it won't sell. It's already going to have to overcome the fact that Ducati is an established brand that more people have heard of and are confident will be around five years from now. EBR needs to reach past the hardcore Buell fans and become more known and accepted. I really hope EBR can do it. I am pulling so hard for them. I hope to buy a new bike in about two years. I'd love for it to be an EBR, but it will have to be competitive in price and reliability with other bikes in the market. It won't have to be better, just competitive for me to buy one. |

I am not sure that this is related to sales, but the Mrs. and I went to a small bike night at Cycle Gear tonight. We talked to five or six people, one used bike dealer and one performance shop guy. They all knew what the bikes were, and were excited to see on in person. So, in terms of awareness by this small group of people who were either driving up or vendors there, knowledge is pretty good. Even the guy on the Honda grom knew was the RS was. |

Court's post above is one of the rare times I can remember him not being overwhelmingly positive about developments at Buell/EBR. That's a little worrisome. Maybe EBR's whole marketing campaign has been on hold pending rollout of this third model? The info I was able to glean from EBR's dealer website (now defunct; it existed from about 2012 to 2013 or so) seemed to be based on having the RX, SX, and AX in EBR dealerships when the brand "launched". Maybe things will really start to happen at EBR after the release of a third model tomorrow? |

Just confirmed with one of my local dealers that they have delivered 2 SX and 1 RX to owners. They currently have a Red, Yellow and Demo Black RX and 2 white SX in stock, one of which was pending a deal approval as we spoke. His comment were: "all the non racers like the SX more." Several customers are interested in the RX but said they are holding off until they see more race and aftermarket support. Only 1 customer said they had not ever previously owned a Buell product. OK, I'll put it differently, the middle class economy is crap. There are more blue collar than white collar owners on this board. And conceding a point Court made earlier, we are older owners. Among the better off older middle class, there are those who will buy the new EBR models. That said, I do believe there is untapped potential in the 20's-49 age group. Just one caveat, they've never owned a BMC bike. How to reach this group? |

I did everything I needed to do to buy an SX this year. Prepped my wife, saved a down payment, etc. The challenge I have is that mechanically all of the bikes in this class are better than my riding skills take advantage of... And I think the SX is plain ugly and no different aesthetically from the competition. I expected a Typhon kind of look and was shocked and disappointed in what I saw. I wanted an aggressive, nasty looking bike: even the SCG looks better to me than the SX. I would have spent 20+ k on a bike I wanted. I certainly won't spend 14k on a bike I dislike aesthetically. |

After test riding several bikes, including the SX, and doing the "milk crate challenge" and inspecting every element of each bike I looked at I finally made a purchase: All black 2009 xb12 scg. I wanted a new bike and didn't see what I wanted in any of the 2014 or 2015 models I looked at. I really wanted to support EBR and compared the SX to Ducati, BMW, MV Agusta... Truth is none of the new bikes had what I wanted. An SCG with Ducati like electronics? I'd be all over that... Possibly the MV Agusta Dragster RR when it hits the US. (None I am aware of in Cali right now.) Until then, I'll be happy with my " new" old buell. |

No idea on how many they've sold, either total or at the sale price. I haven't asked anyone that would really know the answer. Glad I got mine, but it would have been nice to get the lower price.
