For very hot summer conditions such as 90 to 105F degs Air Temp on a regular basis, can a HD V-TWIN 70W140 Primary Chaincase oil be used to do a better job cooling both the Clutch and Trannyin 08> XB12SCG's? Also, can specific SYNTHETIC PRIMARY CHAINCASE Oil's cause the clutch to slip at high revs 5000> in 5th and 6th gear!! Thoughts. Thanks. |

That is one way to look at it, but another is in higher speed applications slightly thinner lube will flow easier and move around easier which would contact the exterior surfaces which would transfer more heat to the outside to be removed from air flow. On slow speed high pressure applications heat produced is not that much but the load bearing between gears is higher and thicker lube is warranted. |

Anybody here have an issue with SLIPPAGE at higher RPM's (5K or better) in 5th and 6th with a GL5 rated Primary Chaincase Lube? On my last (Winterization) oil change last week, I tried a new GL5 Ester based HD approved Chaincase Oil (KLOTZ) 75/80 and I began having slippage on my second ride at the at 5K and above in both 5th and 6th after the engine is nice and warm and toasty. I immediately dumped it and returned back to the LUCAS HD APPROVED PRIMARY SYNTH CHAINCASE oil I had been using for the past 2.5 years. Saw immediate results after taking her out for a decently long hard shifting ride. Still have a tad bit of slippage but I know that will fade away with a couple of more hard rides. Thoughts??? |

Just redid a full CLUTCH adjustment only to find out the linkage/cable was indeed tighter than a you know what. Has the proper adjusted play now. Will go for a spin and see if the previous slippage issue is completely remedied. The OIL probably was not the issue if this all works as it should. Thanks BUELISTIC for the reminder of doing a full Clutch Adjustment. |

Took her out for a spin and the slippage is all gone. Pretty amazing how quickly that issue came on and got progressively got worse fast. Thanks again Buelistic for the reminder and info!!!! |
