I must say . . . my XR-1000 was one of my favorite motorcycles . . . . along with my XLCR (I bought them both the same day) that I have ever owned. |

I saw that, it's beautiful! Not in my price range right now... Too bad it's being run up by a 0 feedback bidder (Message edited by Hooked on October 12, 2014) |

It would be the pinnacle of irony if someone bought it, parted it out, and put the motor in their Buell. Not advocating, just pointing out that destroying a rare thing to create something less rare is generally pretty f'ing stupid. |

Ironically, the only thing special about that bike is the motor, whereas on a Buell the motor is generally the only thing NOT special :P. |

The letdown was the old gear box, not real strong. A friend has one & an Cl cafe racer iron head love seeing them though |

That's not entirely out of the question. A number of RR1000s died for XR1000 restorations and parts. Some of those RR1000 chassis are bound to still be out there. Where else would somebody get a proper engine to restore the bike? An XR would probably have to die to make that happen. |
