I have a friend that has a 2007 Honda CBR 1000 Fireblade in Repsol colors. He has been eyeing my Uly for a while and so we swapped rides for about 30 miles. First time on a sport bike. Nice bike but was I right about them. They are uncomfortable! It was like riding on a sack of angry bumblebees. Hands went numb after about 15 miles and had a crik in my neck from the position. Now I know why he is stiff when he gets off. I am sure it is fun on the track but forget any medium to long distance. On the other hand, he said he loved the position on the Uly and could ride it all day. Loved the power band and low end acceleration. I'll take my paint shaker any day. |

1125CR - More comfortable than a Uly, plus a buttload more power right off the line to boot! I also find the Japanese supersports to be uncomfortable and just terrible to ride on the street. |

That's why I'm surprised that people say the 1190RX is more comfortable than a Uly. I've never heard anyone say a sport bike is "comfortable". |

Froggy and Jesse, OK point taken. However I will probably not get a chance to ride either being as "isolated" here on the Big Island. |

In general sports bikes, by there nature, are not comfy or for that matter handle any better on normal roads than a mid range bike does. They tend to derive from "racing" models and as such are not at there best "on the road". Speed is what sells them and the reason people buy them. XBs are road bikes and the 1200s are more of a "muscle" machine due to its big low rev V-Twin torque but also has the best handling of any bike I have had, at twice the price, and good power control. It also has top end quality construction at least as good as the "high end" modern Honda and BMWs. If not better in many regards. For those, that still do, it is not fair to compare one bike class to another. A Uly is not a Glide any more than it is a Duke 999 or a KTM off road machine and never will be for many reasons. On the other hand you can ride it for 300 miles in comfort on the highway at 100mph then hack through some serious bends and do some basic "off road" stuff if needed. No bike in any class can do what this one does and is half the cost. |

I totally agree with you Uly Man. It's a swiss army knife of motorcycles. Even the engine has two modes. You can short shift it and just play with the torque for you can keep it over 5000 rpm and ride it like a two stroke! |

I actually find sport bikes to be pretty comfortable. My stature could have a lot to do with that, though, as I am not very tall. I used to have a ZX6R that I used as a multi-day mile-muncher. I never experienced the wrist and back pains people tend to complain about. |

The 1125r is a superbike, and it is very comfortable, because it lacks clipons, and you sit quite upright. |
