Hey, guys I have a question and would like some input. On my 1125r the gear indicator doesn't show on my instrument cluster. I bought the bike used with very low mileage and it hasn't worked since I bought it. Would you guys have any thoughts of my problem and what to do to fix it? | ||

Does the gear indicator just show dashes? Likely culprit is the clutch lever switch | ||

If it's an '08, it won't have a gear indicator. I know your profile says '09 1125, but some have been incorrect on what they had. Blue frame came on '08, black on '09. You can add the gear indicator by installing an '09 instrument cluster if that is the case. If it is an '09, Froggy is right on track with that clutch switch. It could also be the speed sensor, but I would think the speed would be wrong, too. There are some people who have disconnected the clutch switches to change the characteristics of engine braking and revving as you let out the clutch. You might find it unplugged on the left grip near the clutch reservoir. | ||

well it does have a blue frame so it is an 08. i didnt know if they all had them or not thanks for the info guys | ||

although i've only had my 09 1125r for a week, the dash shows no gear (dashed lines) when the clutch is pulled in. a clutch switch malfunction could indicate the same. but i see that your bike is an 08 and this has already been answered. | ||

The gear indicator is based on math. Speed VS RPM, calculated within the cluster. If the clutch is in...there is no RPM reference, so the display goes to "--". If the speed sensor is bad, the display goes to "--". |
