Now that the D616 tires are forever gone and I need new tires, I began looking. I see a lot of favor for the Pilot Road series of tires. But I noticed at my local BMW shop that the 1200GS comes with the Tourance Next tires. Anyone running these on their Uly and care to comment? While I do not spend much time off road on this bike (that's what my KTM is for), I do ride a fair bit of unpaved roads. Thanks. |

I have about 1000 miles on a set now. Replaced a set of worn out D616s. There is nothing like new tires! I haven't done much unpaved road riding but what I've done show the tires to be very stable. On pavement, they are incredible! Very smooth transitions, good grip. I think they are great. I think Metzeler says 10% off road, 90% pavement. Barry Hollister, CA |

The Tourance Nexts were fitted to my '13 BMW GSW at delivery. Performance was fine, but I was a bit disappointed in longevity (had 7K miles on rear, and it was about done). Note that I'm pretty easy on tires... --Doc |

Doc, how does that compare to your experience with D616 on the Uly? I am doing good if I get 5K miles out of a rear D616. I would be plenty happy if I were to get 7K. Though the real question may be do I gain much for dirt/gravel roads with the Tourance over a much higher mileage PR4. D |
