Recently went through a few 1157 lamps. Both filaments had failed so I put one in I bought at O'Rileys at 2 for $6. Brake light lasted less than a second. Taillight went nearly 200 miles. Got another one at an independent for $0.97. Put it in this evening. Brake light lasted over 20 seconds in my garage. Will take it for a run tomorrow. Beware cheap chain store stuff. EBR has the LED light back in stock. At $43 plus shipping it aint cheap. May get one anyway. | ||

How is your voltage regulator?… high output might blow little bulbs? | ||

Voltage reads at 14.6, 14.8 is highest I've seen, so that's normal. I've been keeping an eye on the little running lights in the fairing and they've been holding in there. Think it was just a bad pair of lamps. Current one, the $0.97 center is still good. Went looking at Auto-Zone today. They have 1157 LED lamps in white and red, $6 & $25 for two respectively. Am still thinking about the EBR one though. Am wondering if it lights the plate. At least enough to be legal. | ||

Yes get it it's brighter to it is the stock 2010 tail light. | ||

I went the DIY route for the license plate... Half tempted to make a custom LED PCB for the tail/brake light as well, but I'm happy with it for now. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/735641.html | ||

You know I was going to make my own and had myself all set up to do so but I opted for the ebr tail light for two reasons. 1. It's a factory part of limited quantities and it's ridiculously bright. 2. I didn't have the time to follow through on the original plan. At some point I will probably pull the 2010 housing apart and wire the outer sets of LEDs as amber turn signals. | ||

Well I just ordered the light from EBR, and an oil filter. Just kind of frosts my balls to pay $20.13 for shipping, this on a $55 order. Their isn't that much eight there, and box is small. | ||

Agreed. I just assume there are "handling" charges built in to the fee. But in an age when shipping is "free" (or built into the price of the item) in many online stores to see pricy S&H fees does feel strange. | ||

Soon as you see how bright that light is...it'll be OK  . Been running one on my CR since they came out, love it. Awesome light, worth 3x the $. | ||

If you want the best of the best, go look at xblights.com. the XB light survived my crash with only a cracked/separated lens, but was completely fine from a functional point of view. And I have yet to see LEDs as bright as these, I have the full running light. Anything that make me more visible from the front or behind gets my vote. (that's why I don't get it when people integrate or minimize turn signal, etc.) |
