My front brake was pulsing like crazy, so I installed a set of Galfer 1370 street pads, and sanded the disc. Big improvement. But, as I was riding on a mountain road, it seemed like there was still some pulsing when I braked, but I think it is actually the pulsing of the slow revving engine being transmitted through the handlebars. My last bike was an FJR1300, and with that smooth running 4 cylinder, it made the brakes feel smoother. Just a thought. |

For most of us, the only permanent cure we've found is to install the EBR brake mounting hardware kit:' http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/models/xb12/f ront-brake-rotor-mounting-kit.html I installed one (along with a new EBR 6mm rotor) and still no pulsing ~25k miles later. |

Real simple to see if it is engine harmonics making it pulse, pull the clutch in at speed and slow the bike slowly and feel the lever. If it is the disk, there is NOTHING that feels better than an EBR rotor and new pads with their mounting hardware kit, it is AMAZING!! Bruce |

Terry, When I first purchased my Uly, the suspension was totally jacked up. When ever I used the front brake with the engine idling, the lumpy engine idle transmitted right through the bars. After adjusting the suspension to the specs in the owners manual, there was a huge improvement in the pulsation while braking. Maybe you have 2 things going on. Brakes and suspension. |

When mine started pulsing I cleaned around the lugs where the rotor attached to the wheel. The disk floats, not the caliper like every other bike/car. So if dirt and brake dust get in those slots it can't move easily. I blew it out with the compressor. Its worked well for me with all original hardware and one new set of pads so far. About 28000 miles. |

I cleaned my rotor and installed new pads (Lindals[?]) and put air in the front tire. I check pressure pretty frequently but had a temp drop and a bit of hard riding brought it down. Eliminated my problem. I've also heard (read around this forum) that checking when your pulse occurs can help diagnose. Pulse at higher speed = warped rotor or mounting issue, pulse at minimal speed is likely worn pads or dirt/grime/hot spots on pads (fwiw). Hope that helps! |

Had the same problem on my Uly at 15k. Picked up the EBR rotor and mounting kit, problem solved. 35k now and not a single vibe when I brake. |

The Lindal Gold pads stoped my pulsing on my Uly & 1125R did not do anything to the rotor. It takes some miles to clean the rotor for it to get rid of the pulsing the more you ride it the better it gets. |

I rode Buelly up HWY 1, the Pacific Coast Highway, to Monterey last week. The 110 miles from Cambria to Monterey wind along the rocky coast with hundreds of curves, from sweepers to hairpins. No brake pulsing. When I pulled the factory pads, which had strands of metallic fiber in them, the fibers looked galled. No metallic bits in the Galfers. |

I have good luck with EBC pads on htr front regarding the brake pulsing. |

I had it too. Warranty & Extended Warranty replaced the front rotor twice. Each time, the pulsing returned within about 5k miles. So far, the 3rd time was the charm as it's been around 15k since the 3rd factory and warranty replacement and it still stops smoothly like my other Buells. (Extended warranty was up as of Aug '13, so I'm on my own now, but it's been a good bike so far. 80k+ and counting!) |

I just put in a set of SBS ceramic pads at 88,000 miles (second disc, first one was replaced under warranty) and it feels really good - lots of stopping power and the bite is progressive. No pulsing with that or Ferodo, Braking or EBC pads, either. |

One thing that helps is to brake really hard while coming down from high speed. Seems to burn off the pesky crap that builds up. I have an exit off the highway that's a sweeping right hander. I take this every morning at 70 mph and then wait till the last second and brake like a banshee! This has kept my pulsing away. If I'm on a long ride and just cruising I can start to feel it pulsing when braking at slow speeds. One high speed stop and all it good. |

The CQ0001.11AZ EBR front rotor mounting kit is out of stock. Apparently it could be used with the stock rotor and was considered an upgrade over stock. I'm finally getting around to setting up the new front wheel I bought this spring, I bought the H1201C.02A8 finned front rotor and the H0150.02A8A mounting kit. That mounting kit is exactly like the stock mounting system with the springs. Don't know why I didn't look for the CQ0001.11AZ kit. I've never felt any pulsing with the stock setup so the older mounting kit should be ok. |
