Time for an update! First thread got archived. Here's the link to it if you haven't seen it yet. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/735720.html?1408257738 Finally got the hardware all re-zinc plated and started assembling things.
Here's a pic of when it first came home if you don't remember.

Is that a '67 with the panoramic rear window? |

My bet is it's a '68 since the bed has markers. '67 did not. I had a '67 C10 longwide years ago . (Message edited by phelan on August 25, 2014) |

Oops, I didn't spot the bed in the above photos. Could be 68-72 then, I suppose. I still have my 67 CST fleetside. |

With the different paint, I supposed I could rule out a '68 bed on a '67 big window or and other year '68-'72 bed and cab . Either way sweet project, and nice bike too! (Message edited by phelan on August 25, 2014) |

I think that IS a panoramic rear window. Doesn't matter. He bought that truck for the engine and transmission. He's building a t-bucket with the drivetrain and crushing the rest. |

The truck is a 72 with a 68 bed and will have a 69-70 front grill set up. Long term project to replace the truck that requires smog out here. |

Still waiting to see more progress on this. Man, the subframe is still a big question mark. Bare would go well to match the swingarm. Body color? Polished? Choices, choices. That orange looks awesome. |

Go black on the sub frame. |

Love the orange, and the black engine. I'd go black on the sub too |

Got some stuff done this weekend on the bike. Controls are all wired in and the main harness is routed, just waiting on some orange tie wraps to mount it up. I picked up a chin fairing off a member yesterday as well and started the body work.

Paint striper worked well to get the clear powder coat? off.
Next I'll sand blast it and prime everything. The tail will be body color but it isn't going to be black, something better in my opinion. If all goes well with work and play I hope to be painting in two to three weeks. |

if ya wanted to keep Buell colors - that volcano grey/orange frame combo was a stunner and I don't believe it was offered on an X1 so you'd have the only one around… |

Ceejay, that was the idea in the beginning of this project but I've since changed it. It will still be a buell color that was never offered on the X1. Stay tuned to find out! |
