Hey gang, I am back on a Buell! Traded the KLR that I got a smoking hot deal on for a 06 Uly. I think my fan is dead though, checked the fuse and it is good. What I want to know is, will a XB9 fan work on a Uly? Looking on EBay, there seem to be many more of those available. |

Gonna run a couple checks to make sure it is definitely the fan. Thanks for the reply. |

Easy check: 1. start engine. 2. grab beverage. 3. grab chair. 4. sit and wait.

Better way to check is to use ECMspy, that way you can manually activate the fan, if it passes that test then you can monitor the engine temperature as it idles to see if it kicks in when it makes it above the fan on threshold. |

That would be beverages, ratbuell. Ive been doing some spy work lately on my 12x and i am amazed how slowly that temp reading climbs while idling. 3rd time i realized its better to go for a ride 15 min or so to preheat. Then youre in the ballpark to get started. Flipside is how quick the temp sensor loses temp.if you tap the fan, you drop to 120c in no time and then have to get back to 160 at least for all startup features to drop out to check changes you made. Also, i used spy to drop key on fan setting to 210c from 220c to help fast freeway or slow traffic conditions. |

Nillaice Posted on Sunday, August 31, 2014 - And you gotta pretty much gut out the everything under the seat just to get to the fan Roger that, I replaced the fan on my '06 Ulysses last week. The rear damper assy has to come out, too. OP, I recommend you buy a new fan and not fool around with a used one. While you have the bike opened up for the fan replacement, replace the O2 sensor. Bosch 12014 is a direct replacement. |

...my reply was mostly tongue-in-cheek, the result of a pain in the ass hand injury, heavy antibiotic use, and a lack of coffee. If nothing else, after a good hard run the fan should turn on after key-off. Does the Uly by chance have an EBR ECM? |

Thanks for the responses. I have not had a chance to look at it any further yet. It does have header wrap and right side scoop, other than that, it is completely stock. |

Can anyone tell me what the difference in the fan operation is between a stock and Race ECM? |
