Not at all. I was born and raised in the Midwest. I live in Arizona (there is no coast). I have ridden on dozens of tracks across the country and been at many races in Europe. Again it's only my opinion. G |

Better than constantly whining about Marquez winning... Or Hondas being "too fast" |

One streak ended, but still too damned many Honda victories... but I'll take what I can. |

It was a good race, I was glad to see Dani take the top step! |

Laguna in the running for being the most FUN, COTA is a BETTER track though. At least in my opinion. |

At least COTA isn't a super speedway pretending to be a road race circuit...I rate circuits largely on how close the racing is. Obviously some circuits are conducive to good racing and some are not. Laguna has the tendency to produce good racing, oftentimes great. NOt sure why this is, perhaps it's the design, lack of a true straight and/or the short lap times? I look at a track like Miller (which is the polar opposite of Laguna) and from my recollection, the racing has always been terrible there. My friends and I have discussed "why" a circuit tends to be good for racing and we have theories, but it seems to be an elusive answer. YOur thoughts? |

PS--200+ on a motorcycle is a damn impressive sight, but what will really give a motorcycle fanatic chills is watching the GP bikes crest the hill and disappear at Laguna's Turn 1 doing 165. It doesn't look like a much from the TV perspective but it takes a big set to hold it wide open going thru Turn 1. IMO it's these little nuances that make Laguna great. Anyone know what makes this pic special?

That is a great photo. Top notch photographer suing not only skill but knowledge and hard work to get it. A very tiny bit of luck was involved but that is about 1% of it. Here is the story; http://www.motomatters.com/blog/2013/10/02/photogr apher_s_blog_the_first_in_flight_.html You can buy an autographed version here; http://scottjones.net/marc-marquez-first-in-flight / |

I remember Fred Merkel or Freddie Spencer doing it on his 16" Wheeled Honda and finding my self slack-jawed when he didn't wind up on his side after the high speed wobble. Let's see, that would be about 1988? |

I vaguely remember a photo of Stoner, Lorenzo and Rossi, all heeled over in a turn like that, but a definite "air gap" between the tire and the track surface. I wondered: "How the %$#@ do they do that??" |

Lorenzo hasn't given up, either. That was a good race, though I wish that the podium results were reversed. Hey; my guy can't always win (that is unless his name is Scotty Parker and he's at the Springfield Mile) |

Someone posted awhile ago: Take Marquez out of the picture and this year's contest would be between Rossi and Pedrosa. That would've been EPIC. Now, it's (to paraphrase Dale Earnhardt) just the battle for the first LOSER. |

I am so hoping Rossi takes the first loser spot. This time last year many had written him off! Rossi's consistency has paid off but he needs to be beating Pedrosa for the remainder of the season, and watching out for a fast charging Lorenzo. Rossi's way to the first loser spot is not an easy one as it appeared it might be at the start of the season. Good for Rossi that Pedrosa and Lorenzo are back in the game, as it makes the runner up spot against an almost unbeatable Marquez somewhat more credible this season. Well, at least in my eyes it does. Rocket in England |

I don't think anyone wrote Rossi off. Isn't he like the last non-Spaniard to win a race in almost two years?? |

Pedrosa still has Rossi in points I think 10 if memory serves. Lorenzo a way back even more. Could be a good battle between the three |

Lorenzo's lousy start to the season took him right out of contention but he's proving he's back to his old self again (even if it is too late to matter). All he can do now is be a "Spoiler" but he'll have to work even harder if he wants to replace Marquez on the top step this year. |

Well, Josh Herrin just got the axe. The only surprise is that it has taken them so long to sack him I had high hopes for Josh in Moto2 but he has been absolutely terrible all year. even with the excuse of having to learn new tracks and a new bike he has simply underperformed (look at the other rookies in the class for comparison, including Sam Lowes). Hopefully the new AMA series run by Wayne rainey and co will attract and develop some new talent from the US for GP racing in future. |

Josh was GOOD, but he was mostly good when following his team mate. Last year, Hayes was his own worst enemy, suffering DNFs and crashes like never before. Even so, Hayes pushed Herrin all the way to the end. Problem is, Hayes is just too old to get serious consideration on the world stage. Like just about everything else, it's a young man's game (Jeremy McWilliams notwithstanding). |
