My M2L now has a full X1 setup on it - trees, forks, fender (locally painted to match the volcano gray), headlight brackets, shock, and brackets.

Just replied to your PM - everything bolted right up. Toughest part was finding flyscreen brackets for the USD forks, but it's all stock stuff, no mods, just drop-n-swap. If anyone needs an M2L (low) front end with 3k miles on it...there's one hanging on my wall ![; )](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/winker.gif) |

Didn't get your pm, I will assume yours went to epost @badweb.com like mine always do now. Thanks for the info though. Essentially, all I need is just the forks and trees then? All else will stay the same? |

In my case I have no idea...I converted an M2L from low to normal ride height. That's the reason I made the change - I'm 6'4", I don't need a Low. |

Just scored a bunch of parts, got the short shock, the mount for it, tach, clutch cable and some other small bits for $250. The shock alone typically goes for that much or close to it, so I'm happy with my find. Now to get new handle bars, switch gear and the better front end bits. Man, this thing is a money pit. I picked up a soda blast kit over the weekend for stripping the bodywork, so hopefully work slows down a little for me and I get a little "me" time in to work on this thing. |

So the updated shock mount that I got isn't threaded. It almost looks like it was stripped out though. Anyone know for sure if it was or not? The old style one is threaded. Also, what does the remote reservoir attach to? |

The only hole on a shock mount that's threaded is the small hole, where the reservoir attaches. It's been a while since I did the swap, but I want to say everything torques to a nylock nut - there are no threads in the bracket. The reservoir should have a torco clamp on it, with an additional nut. Remove the additional nut. Slide the threaded part of the clamp through the small hole in the mount. Use the nut to hold it in place. |

Guess I need to get longer bolts and a pair of nylock nuts to go with them then. Had it all apart this morning and figured out it wasn't going to work. ![: (](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/sad.gif) |

I am now sporting a massive headache. Wire harness is changed, front suspension done, different bars and controls, s3 spider, new tire up front and getting ready to swap out the rear suspension next.
I do have a question about the tach. I don't have any wiring for it, looks like there's 3 connections on the back of it. Black, orange and pink maybe? I looked at the electrical schematic, the only one I know for sure is the pink for rpm, is there a connector kit for it or how is it wired in? (Message edited by d_adams on September 06, 2014) |

Also, my high beam indicator is always on, regardless of the switch position. It did this with both wire harnesses and different switch gear on the left side. The only constant is the dummy light display on the dash, so I suppose it may be a shorted or crossed wire there. |

see if P.4 won't help you with the tach a bit. I installed the factory kit, it was so easy I could have made a X1 work http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloa ds/Service/isheets/-J01472.pdf |

Snagged this kit over the weekend.
Decided to prep the bike for the Mikuni HSR-42 carb that's on the way as well and found the (I think) reason for the crap idle it had. Last time I saw a rip this big, the bike in question wouldn't run at all unless the choke was on at least 1/2 way.

Finally got a few minutes to do this today. Bracket isn't 100% perfect, but it will work just fine. I misaligned one of the bracket holes and had to open it up just a tad bit.

I'll be making these available soon to fit stock 2.5" headers. I'm waiting on new clamps for the rear, all I had was a 20 year old Yoshimura 4" clamp (it works) so once I get those, I'll sort out a firm price on the kit/setup. I have some other customer orders to fill, then I'll be building another one for myself since this one is already spoken and paid for. |
