http://www.motorcycle.com/features/best-sportbike- 2014.html Motorcycle.com has a shoot out in the works but, the name of the game in the sport bike class this year appears to be accessibility of power, confidence inspiring handling and real world street ability, rather than out right power and lap times. Under those criteria, having ridden the winner, F3800, HP4, RC8 and RSV4 in close succession before settling on the EBR 1190RX, I can live with/see this being a fair result that must have been an extremely close call. What I don't understand is the bike of the Year winner. KTM's monster bike makes only marginally more power than the 1190RX and doesn't handle near as well. Yes it has more electronic wizard but part of what I like about the 1190 is the design negates the need for heavy electronic interventions. The recent test ride I did on it left me feeling wondering if it really had 200cc more displacement, because it didn't feel much like it at all. Oh well. Thoughts |

Holy shit, I sat on a 899 Duc and it was a torture rack. I couldn't even imagine trying to ride that thing for any amount of time. I totally disagree with the assessment of the relatively comfy ergos of the Duc. But it's a sexy bike, I will give them that. |

The test riders are different shapes and sizes, they list theirs in the road tests. They have a short amount of time to test bikes in lot of different environments. So I can see why quick electronic adjustability would be a big advantage to them. If one keeps the same bike for a while, and mostly rides it on the same roads, with the same weight of passenger, etc. quick ajustibility of suspension and power curve are pretty much moot. |

Is somebody afraid to go against EBR? "Ducati flat out refused to provide a 1199 Panigale." |
