Hey Jim, when you are headed west on 50. You will want to get off at the Route 16/Ellenboro exit and head south on 16. Once you get in the HUGE burg of Harrisville you keep going straight. Don't turn left on 16. Don't turn left on 31 keep going straight. That turns into West Main St. AKA 5. This will take you to the Cokely Campground that will be on your right. You will go past it and have to turn around.... everyone does. Look for the Buell and EBR signs on the hill!
Be there before well before 6 pm. That is the time the grub is served. We have a little ride at 5:45 ish then EAT!
This is so cool - I went a few years ago - might just try to make this - Miss my Uly - If I do get to come, it'll be on a Vic - [ it's 4 sale - looking 4 another Uly ] - Thanks Wolfridgerider ....
From Hagerstown, it's what - 200 miles? Come on, Joe you can ride that. If I can reschedule my CT Scan, I'm really wanting to make it. The rebellious streak in me is saying, "Screw the doctors, just go and enjoy yourself". The responsible side is saying the opposite. I've never been to the WV Rally and I've been wanting to go for a few years now. It's a tough call. This video really is starting to influence me. Especially the one old guy who has cancer. :
Jim, Mark; Thanks for the support. It really is appreciated.I'm going to do the Right Thing. I will get the Cat Scan. If I can't get it rescheduled, then I won't be at the rally. If I can, I'll show up. This summer has been full of aborted rides, and it's getting pretty frustrating. I had to miss the Stamford, CT Dinosaur run, I couldn't go to either the Memorial Day Springfield Mile or the Hagerstown 1/2 Mile in July. The Moto GP this weekend was also a non event for me. Now, whether or not I can do the WV Rally, I'm pretty sure I'll miss the Labor Day Springfield Mile. I know one thing, if I can't get the Cat scan rescheduled, I'm going Somewhere next weekend. I bet it freakin' pours on me if I do. I don't care if it does. I just put a fresh set of Angel GTs on the Norge, and they work really well in the wet.
Wolfridgerider....Room will be at a premium on the Uly ....But is there anything I can do/bring ?I think my girl is going to join me so we will be there late friday night.....
Nope. There should be a cooler or two on site for beverages. Plenty of stores in town to pick up what you may need or want.
You will want to try and be there before 6PM on Friday if ya can. Some of the locals are fixing a bunch of eats for us to grub on at shelter #3.
Where is shelter #3? Hell if I know.... It down in the main park area. I hope to have a park map at our campsite at the Cokely Campgrounds posted once I get there and get settled in.
....I really H-A-T-E 'towing' a bike to an event...but I'm OLD, dammit!! This age thing seems to be effecting a good number of us! What the hell!!?!?
The hilarity of what was randomly overheard being said by a Harley chick at Little Switzerland has become quite apropos, to the effect of: " we(Harley riders) can't get around for all of these Old Ass Buell Riders! They are everywhere!" In some places we are now known as O-A-B-R!
On that note.....dammit Crusty.....you're not alone with medical woes. Plumbing problems had me in for a CT this week. Now I have to do a follow up ultrasound scan Friday afternoon, this one cannot be rescheduled. It has to be done in time for my meeting with the doc next round.
Doc has advised me to limit my riding until we can isolate the problems and fix some stuff. My newest limitations also include; NO intake of GOOD foods, NO driving long distances, and NO consumption of carbonated drinks, including, and as well as alcohol type stuff. Shit. This is why I cannot make WVBRVII.
I may be there late Thursday night. It depends on how I feel. I may stop along the way and finish Friday morning or ride straight through, not sure yet.
