As the title goes....I'm looking to get some proper handgaurds...I feel the stock ones are the cheapest things on the bike and really cant even believe They bothered putting them on the bike at all....Anywho...I want some that would protect the levers in a tip over and maybe my hands should a branch be in the way....what do you guys have on yours? |

do you have to cut off the ends of the heated grips? |

I doubt so if the heated grips work with the stock hand guards they will work with the Barkbusters. |

really, stock they just click on a nub on the end of grip.. looks like the BB's mount inside the bar for strength and that's why the stock ones would just pop off and let your knuckle get crushed. |

Alex Prior had a set for his (newer) uly and was having problems fitting them, I don't know if he got them to work or not. Perhaps the parts changed on the brushguards, perhaps the Uly changed, I'm not sure. |

Fotoguzzi, if I recall correctly, that nub is part of a removable plug, rather than being part of the grip. At least that's how it is on my '08. I have Bark Busters with the Storm guards on mine, and they have proven quite effective -- although after a tipover, the part of the aluminum backbone that comes from the bar end can interfere with the tip of the brake lever. Something to be mindful of when jumping back on and riding. I like the Acerbis handguards a bit better, as the backbone curves down in that spot and will remain clear of the lever tips even when they shift from impact. The Acerbis wind guards attach to the backbone in a slightly simpler fashion than the Bark Busters. I had Acerbis hand guards on my previous bike, but couldn't get them to fit my Uly. That said, I have seen some pics of BadWeb Ulys with the Acerbis guards. |
