So I'm doing a track day on the CR, and right as I decelerate and down-shift after a straight, the engine shuts off - - get a flash of lights on the console, with both blinkers illuminating and the message "Tipped Key Off" on the display screen... Got the bike off the track, and it started right up and was able to finish that session. Back at the paddock no noticeable problems, so went out again. . . and the same thing occurred. Was the end of the day and got the bike off the track. The first four sessions of the track day went without issue. First thought the problem was the Bank Angle Sensor, either faulty or "upset"; and since I had been swapping pods thought I might have dislodged it from the mount. The BAS is still in place, "UP" is oriented up. . . Need some assistance if possible on what is going on and what the next course of action should be. Some specifics: - 2009 1125CR - H-D "un-fix" for the VR/Stator - New stator and EBR rotor Track Day Prep: (not sure if this info matters, but better too much diagnostic info than not enough...) - Headlight unplugged from connector - Front turn signals/mirrors removed/unplugged - Rear turn signals removed/unplugged - Brake light bulb removed I have the 1125 Service Manual, but found nothing in reference to "Tipped Key Off". . . Thanks in advance for any info available. |

The BAS had triggered a tipover event, which shuts the engine down until you turn the key off and on. If this happened once I wouldn't worry about it as it was likely a fluke. If it continues to happen, replace the BAS, or if you are running a Race ECM you can just disconnect the BAS. |

Froggy - Thanks for the quick response. Lean angle was not so extreme to cause a "tipover event". Since it happened twice, maybe should plan to replace the BAS, but any benefit of maybe disconnecting the battery for few hours - - perhaps the stock ECM could reset ? ? ? Do a TPS reset ? ? ? Open to any other options, if anyone has one, as the idea of pulling up lame on the racing line of a track has "catastrophe" written all over it. . . Thanks again |

Hey Paul! I have the race ecm on mine, so you can borrow my BAS to see if fixes it for you before buying one? When are you doing the next track day and we'll hook up before to get it to you? just give me a shout. Rob |

Hey Rob - Meant to shoot you an e-mail yesterday about a possible link-up for dinner with the girls, but thanks for chiming in here - - not sure of the best course of action. Think it may be best to go with the EBR ECM (even with stock exhaust) instead of buying a new BAS; could always reprogram the ECM if I upgrade to an aftermarket exhaust. . . Thanks for the offer on using your BAS - - may "rent" it from you if I can't figure out a solution before next track day (ORP on 9-10 August). Thanks, Paul |

Paul - Dinner sometime soon works fine for me! ping me w/ dates and will check w/ Jen. You are welcome to borrow my BAS as i know the ECM's previously took a bit to ship from EBR. It's a couple weeks out before your next track day, so probably not an issue, but better safe... It's not like you are far and i know where you live! Not sure if ECMSPY or similar w/ cable would let you reprogram your ECM or ?? Rob |

The Race ECM is an awesome upgrade regardless of what exhaust you have. In fact it is a bigger upgrade than an exhaust itself. I have one on my bone stock 08 R and my Dean Adams piped 09 CR. That said, if your BAS is indeed failing, if I remember right the Race ECM can still kill the motor if the BAS says you tipped, but it just won't throw a code if the BAS is disconnected. |

i'd rather put $50 towards an EBR ECM any day! If it were 10 or 15... maybe. |
