There's a Lot of bitching on this thread about lies, crooks, stupid things and choices. I'd like to take this chance to remind you, that July 20th 1969 has an anniversary coming up this weekend. We Chose to go to the moon. And Did. Here's a "political" slant on that. "Apogee: America Needs Another Great Challenge (Jul. 17, 2014)" by Bill Whittle. What I found important was the words of John F Kennedy, who in this thing if no other in his life, got it perfect. http://www.pjtv.com/?cmd=mpg&load=9985&mpid=56 |

Nobody wants to go there. As far as "solar physicists really don’t know what is happening," well, maybe the "solar physicists" don’t (which I seriously doubt — they just don’t want to admit it out loud, especially in the current scientific viewpoints — ESPECIALLY given the party line on climate), but us variable star astronomers sure get it. Three years ago the Sun was still ramping up from a very deep and prolonged minimum, also — so you can’t really compare the current zero to that zero. The guy may work for NASA but that don’t impress me none. Stephanie Osborn Interstellar Woman of Mystery http://www.Stephanie-Osborn.com <http://www.stephanie-osborn.com/> "Source real time solar constant three-month trailing http://lasp.colorado.edu/data/sorce/total_solar_ir radiance_plots/images/tim_level3_tsi_24hour_3month _640x480.png <http://lasp.colorado.edu/data/sorce/total_solar_ir radiance_plots/images/tim_level3_tsi_24hour_3month _640x480.png> The minimum on July 14 is almost a full wt/m^2 below the (by eye) three month average. Note Source calibration accuracy/average relative to other in-space experiments at http://www.acrim.com/ " Total Solar Irradiance Jerry, http://www.acrim.com/ presents the history of total solar irradiance measurements in space. <http://www.acrim.com/results/earth%20observatory/e arth_obs_fig1.pdf> The wide variation in values between experiments is the consequence of the different accuracies of the different devices. Within each data set, however, both the variation across the solar cycle (with a steady minimum energy corresponding to solar minimum and significant daily variations during solar maximum is evident, and in the Cycle 23 data set the long minimum and the relative weakness of the current cycle is evident. The bottom line is that we don’t really know the solar constant with an accuracy of more than half a percent, and it varies over the solar cycle by about 0.2 percent (which corresponds to about half a degree Celsius in the absence of terrestrial factors which impact heat retention and re-radiation. Another reason not to trust the models. Jim When the Sun is quiet it gets cold..... big cosmic Duh!. Unless you are paid to support the Climate Con. The Sun, of course, has nothing to do with Climate. Ask Al Gore. His fortune is settled.... |

Some of the Hoaxers are claiming that the deep ocean is warming, even if the Earth's surface isn't (Discounting the faked data, of course). Maybe not: http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2014/07/are- the-oceans-warming.php When will this scam fall apart and we never have to listen to the words "carbon footprint" again? |

Heat Hiding ? WTF so all that heat bypasses the surface and went deep diving! These idiots flunked thermodynamics 101. Greenhouse warming is in the atmosphere. To even foist the idea that the heat has gone from the atmosphere (where we can measure it with satellites) to the ocean surface (where we can measure it with satellites) and into the deep ocean where we lack the ability to measure it well, all undetected, is hilarious. This is so clearly NOT science. BTW, if it were somehow true, it would have to make any serious climatologist question all that we currently know about historical surface temperatures. When I see that, I'll pay some attention. |

Every day while tracking air freight, I am forced to see how much carbon dioxide is generated by each parcel in the belly of an aircraft... A single 110 pound crate supposedly creates the following: Total CO2 Emissions* : 178.1 lbs F*ng ridiculous. |

Are the climate models that have been used to promote the idea of dire consequences due to the burning of fossil fuels accurate? Let's look and see. Predictions of the Alarmists vs Reality Models vs Reality Obviously, the alarmists' preferred models have failed, meaning that they have diverged so far from reality as to lose all confidence. Given the history of the earth's temperature, the bad science is even more glaringly refuted: "Years BP" means years "before present." Reconstructed global temperature over the past 420,000 years based on the Vostok ice core from the Antarctica (Petit et al. 2001). The record spans over four glacial periods and five interglacials, including the present. The horizontal line indicates the modern temperature. The red square to the right indicates the time interval shown in greater detail in the following figure. More cold hard data: The world's longest continuous running non-proxy temperature record... The Central England surface air temperature series is the longest existing meteorological record. Thin lines = annual values. Thick lines = running 11 yr average. The above graphs for annual, summer and winter temperatures have been prepared using the composite monthly meteorological series originally painstakingly homogenized and published by the late professor Gordon Manley (1974). The data series is now updated by the Hadley Centre. Last diagram update: 11 March 2014. Note the warming between 1692 and 1732, from a running avg of 8.1 to 9.9 deg C for a total warming of 1.8 deg C over a period of 40 years. Compare that to the last 40 years and decide if it is unprecedented as the alarmists assert. Hint: Significantly less warming anytime since 1965. The above is from http://www.climate4you.com/GlobalTemperatures.htm# Central%20England%20air%20temperature%20since%2016 59 See http://www.climate4you.com/GlobalTemperatures.html for more honest (inconvenient to the fraud) scientific data. |

From that MSN.com link: "Thursday's study estimated that water from melting glaciers has contributed a total of 13.3 cm (5 inches) from 1851-2010 to rising sea levels. Without human influences the rise would still have been 9.9 cm (4 inches)." Even if their analysis is accurate, one lousy inch of sea level rise and we have to give up our beloved incandescent light bulbs? Not to mention abandon the cheap, efficient hydrocarbon energy just sitting there in the ground? This won't convert any climate realists into hoaxers. |

Duc, Full disclosure on that plot: It's data enda at 1986 or so, but you're still correct; the temperature has yet to exceed that of even the most recent warm period. Thought I'd included the accompanying text for those plots, but its missing. It's on the referenced web site, an EXCELLENT source of cold hard scientific data concerning climate chane. |

The GISP2 chart above clearly shows that warm periods are "life is good" times. The end of the Minoan Empire came with the eruption of Thera which still counts as the biggest bang in human history..... and may have kicked off the mini ice age that followed. Civilization fell Hard. A Dark Age is when you forget you could do technology..... the term Cyclopean architecture was coined to describe the huge buildings and cities that HAD to have been built by Gods or Titans since not only the techniques for moving and fitting such huge stones been lost, but that humans ever Could do so. ( sorry.....gave a class on the First Dark Age last week and still have this stuff fresh in mind ) The End of Rome came in part from Climate Change when the Danube river froze over and the Germanic tribes fled south with no geographic barrier. The Viking Age of Exploration died with the end of the Medieval warm period and the Greenland & Inland colonies abandoned. ( and the Mann/CRU. Charts didn't even have this warm period. An inconvenient truth. ) As I've long said when the winery business picks up in Newfoundland we'll finally be back to good weather. In fact it's pretty obvious to me that warm=civilization and cold=suckage. It has never been in my life been as warm as it was during the times of Rome....the Vikings....the Dust Bowl. |

Ps. The current Dark Age has people telling you the Moon Landing was a hoax since "we didn't have the computers" to go there. I'm increasingly convinced that we are entering a deliberate religious Dark Age like the 13th century anti-reformation of Islam. When the mullahs dragged their civilization back to the 8th century to maintain power. |

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2727734/We t-cold-bank-holiday-way-forecasters-warn-two-weeks -bad-weather-ahead.html I'm all for solar power, but it has it's costs. Any system for collecting diffuse power need a big footprint. Solar roof shingles and building homes for passive solar cost savings make a lot of sense. Covering the desert with panels and the mountain passes with windmills is going to change the micro climate and in a small way the larger one. Also serious biodiversity problems. |

http://www.reactionengines.co.uk/sabre_enabletech. html Heat exchangers "cool the incoming airstream very quickly and effectively, from over 1,000 °C to minus 150 °C in less than 1/100th of a second" Holy crap! I wish the Sabre team much success, they've worked on this for years. http://freebeacon.com/national-security/china-secr etly-conducts-second-flight-test-of-new-ultra-high -speed-missile/ China is also offering a stealth plane for sale. http://cnsnews.com/news/article/ali-meyer/average- price-ground-beef-hits-all-time-high food to fuel. But just because it's more expensive to live doesn't mean there is inflation, since inflation numbers don't include energy or food, which are considered "too volatile" to make politicians look good. |

So now when I'm running my "zero emissions" vehicle, even if my electricity comes from a "solar" power plant, I'm still burning fossil fuel? Who knew? http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/08/23/liberal s-darling-2-2-billion-solar-plant-suddenly-needs-m ore-of-the-one-thing-you-would-never-expect/

That's still 65% solar. If they can do it without my money, I'm all for it. In most cases though, these things are tax payer funded (not tax breaks, everyone gets those, but rather tax credits or out right grants) boondoggles. |

So, the Ivanpah power plant not only flash-fries birds in flight, its 4,000 acre footprint erases "intact desert ecosystem" and destroyed the habitat for rare desert tortoises. Somebody, somewhere, had to give up similar land for mitigation of this lost habitat... sound familiar? |

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_ICELAND_ VOLCANO?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIM E=2014-08-23-09-41-28 REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) -- Iceland lowered its aviation alert level to orange from red Sunday, saying there was no sign of an imminent eruption at the Bardarbunga volcano. And scientists at the Icelandic Meteorological Office said their announcement Saturday that the volcano had experienced a subglacial eruption was wrong. But the office cautioned in a statement that seismic activity at the volcano, which has been hit by thousands of earthquakes over the past week, was not slowing, and an eruption remained a possibility in coming days. http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/502349/Icelan d-ash-cloud-could-trigger-freezing-cold-winter-thi s-year-if-it-erupts A little premature, maybe. A big eruption could have unanticipated consequences. Like a no fly zone over Europe could offer the possibility of a land invasion without worry over being stopped by airpower. ( See "the battle of The Bulge" WW2 ) Weather issues from a volcano can last for years, and lead to starvation, even wars as the price of food rises.... The planet is more interdependent today that the 1800's so food production disrupted in the Northern Hemisphere can lead to real problems all over. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer Look at the food riots in Africa and Asia in times of relative plenty, just because the US converted some farm land to fuel production. Cut the harvest by a substantial percentage, hundreds of thousands will, and millions may, die. |
