Long story short, this bike was taken apart 4 yrs ago and I do not have the time or desire to put it back together. I bought a business, had a baby and moved twice in that time, things have been busy. It has 10,215 miles and ran great before it was disassembled. Tires have 2k miles on them. Corbin seat, Lots of carbon fiber. I used it as my daily commuter, about 80 miles round trip to work. The camshafts are out, exhaust, primary cover, gas tank are off and several things are loose. I have a new gasket kit from american sportbike for the parts that are off. Its a project for sure. For someone who knows how to reassemble it, its a great bike. Its been hanging like this for the last 4 years, aside from being moved twice. The hanging setup and table are also for sale. It all needs to go. Make a reasonable offer and its yours. I have a lot of upgrades that I haven't dug out of storage yet, but they will be available soon. Storz steering damper, X1 triple trees/forks, X1 swingarm/mounting block, Mikuni 42mm carb. Im going to attempt to post some pictures, bear with me. Please email me directly at crstech@yahoo.com, I will answer any questions or take more pictures if needed and email to whoever is interested.
$1,500 for the bike with all original parts, lift table setup, metal lift and wooden wheel chock. Likely going to be parting it out if there are no takers.
Got the motor running today. Ooooo man did I miss the sound of that 1200! Badboy fired right up. I'm going to try to get a vid of it running by the weekend. Any takers?
Kind of a long story, but my retired moto tech neighbor accidently took the cams out years ago. He had Alzheimer's and it got the best if him. If you search my previous posts you can find the full story. After that I figured "time for upgrades". Turns out, I'm a dummy. Life happened and I could never find the time to put it back together. Since my son I just kind of lost the desire to ride again. I heard it run today and it stirred some emotions for sure. At the end of the day I really just need it gone.
Just go get it already. Save it from the chopping block and end up with a $3k+ bike for a little bit of work. I'm going to get one myself this weekend, it's just a little closer to me than this one is.
Ohhhh man, someone please save this!!! I'm still working on the last bike I bought and I do NOT have room for a 6th buell... It would make bike 14.... But I can't bear to see it chopped...
By the way, how does someone "accidentally" remove cams.....? It's kind of a multi layered approach
I don't know what was going through his mind that day. It was a whole big thing. His wife later told me he had advanced Alzheimer's. Things were never the same between us after that. I've since moved, don't know how he is now.
I don't want to see it chopped up either. I would love to see it put back together. This is the only place I've posted it so far. Craigslist is next, but I know I'll start attracting people who want to chop it.
Thats very noble guys, it is. I put it on craigslist last night (for $1,800), http://southjersey.craigslist.org/mcy/4572777623.h tml. Had an offer for $1,200 that I turned down. Guy had never heard of Buell before, wanted to "create something", his words. The sharks are circling. Please, I don't think $1,500 is too much.
Well, I'm ok with $1500. So please don't sell it to a hacker, you can consider it sold. But if some other well intentioned Buell fan wants it ahead of me that's fine with me. If you want to give it a couple more days to see if there's any bites - no problem. But if you need to get on with life, PM me and we'll work the details...
Well done Steve, I'm close enough to drive and save this bike as well and have been trying to figure out how I could store it but I am simply out of room. I would have to put it in storage as I simply have no room. Did you know you could fit 13 bikes in a two car garage??? Yep I'm out of room! But didn't want to see it chopped!
Sold the bike locally today, to a mechanic friend who put the cams back in. Big thanks to Steve(Swamp2) who was willing to drive 7 hours to save it from a butcher.
Well, by my estimation it would've only been 6 hours. To get down there... Of course then I'd have to come back...
Anyway, glad it worked out. I have to say I didn't really want it initially, but after committing to it and thinking about it for a couple days it was hard not to get excited about another "new" Buell so I was slightly disappointed to hear it found another home. But it's all for the best from the sounds of it...
