I like the smoked one better but mine is a solid matte black and I like that one the best. |

Take a rattle can and paint the back side so when, not if it gets a scratch it won't hurt the finish.... The small screen like the ones pictured above are pretty much aesthetics only anywho and blacking it out won't affect you vision of the road. (Message edited by gp81 on July 10, 2014) |

You can also do window tint on the inside. Pick your color and stack them for darker coverage. The darker one looks better. |

I have a smoke Zero Gravity shield on mine. It failed the safety inspection here in Utah. I had to remove the shield and they passed it. |

"It failed the safety inspection here in Utah." So do you fail if you ride up with a smoked shield on your helmet? That is so lame. Another vote for the smoked. |

Yes totally lame. I argued with the inspector that it was a wind deflector not a windshield. He said what if you leaned down and looked through it. I told him to give that a try. It was re-installed once he passed it and looks good. Another vote for smoke. |

Don't mean to hi-jack my own thread but here in Hawai'i tinted turn signals are illegal. The only reason the Uly gets away with it is they have "DOT" on the lenses. |

Like Gp81 stated I plastidiped mine in black on the back side mine is a taller one and still you don't ever look through it just over it. The black looks best I think. Jeff |

Yes you can peel the plastidip off and clean it up with goo gone if you don't like it . It takes a handleful of applications to cover. Touch up is pretty easy too Jeff |

The buffeting from those lame little stock shields is pretty bad. Better off without the shield. Just the fairing cover is probably better for a more comfortable buffet-freer riding. |

"The buffeting from those lame little stock shields is pretty bad. Better off without the shield. Just the fairing cover is probably better for a more comfortable buffet-freer riding." It depends... I'm 6'2" with a fairly long torso. I have no buffeting. |

For me the stock shield worked good with the stock seat. When I went to an '06 height seat I first tried Palmer brackets on the stock shield then eventually to an XT shield by itself and it works great for me. BTW, I'm only 5'8". |
