my 06 Uly was lightly used by one owner when i got it with 9k miles three months ago...Its now nearing 15k....and the previous ( original buyer) owner did NOT take it for any recall work. Will Harley still do the recall work? and will they charge me? If they are going to charge me I'd do the research and do the work myself. Does anyone know exactly what all of the recalls were for an 06 xb12x?

I believe any Buell/HD dealer is obligated to fix any open recalls at no charge to you. Note it has to be an authorized Buell service provider, not just any Harley dealer. You can find a list of those here: http://www.buell.com/content/buell/en_US/service-p roviders.html

My first Buell was a totaled 2000 S3 that I bought on ebay and repaired myself about 2005. The recall on the rear shock was still outstanding, a fairly expensive item. I walked up to the local Buell/HD dealer's service desk, explained the issue, the guy said "we'll be glad to take care of it". They ordered the parts, a week later they came in, I bought the bike in and they gave it back about an hour later with a nice new rear shock and no charge to me.

I believe there were a couple of recalls for your bike:

(1) The Bank Angle Sensor (BAS). It was originally installed adjacent to the ECM; the recall moves it to the rear of the under-seat area where it is less subject to heat and vibration. The downside is you lose a significant amount of storage space at the very rear of the tail.
(2) Kickstand bolts: I believe there was a formal recall that replaces the kickstand bolts with stronger versions.

While I don't believe it was a formal recall, they also were replacing the clutch cable retainer with an improved version. It bolts to the front isolator near where it bolts to the front cylinder head. The original clutch cable retainer was made of heavy gauge steel wire; these will usually break. The replacement is stamped from ~1/8" steel plate and appears much more durable.

Good luck.

They forgot to do my BAS switch and now I'm glad they did. With the installation of the Comfort kit you don't need to move the BAS. The problem was heat and with the Comfort kit heat is no longer a problem under the seat. Saves space under the seat as mentioned. I never had any BAS problems.

Tootal- that's good to know. I may move mine back one of these days. That extra storage area came in handy.
