Just bought a 2010 rear Uly wheel from Al. Finally! Had to tell somebody that knew what I was all excited about! Now, what tire to dress this with....???? |

Ya gonna paint it with some of those jerry garcia, janis joplin colors? Dress it up before you put the rubber on! |

I was thinking a vibrant "pink-Paisley" would look great! |

I been thinking i like the repsol honda wheels off moto gp bikes. That orange looks good on those bikes. Sure see them from afar. Wouldnt match my camo plastics tho. May do something this winter to dress the old girl up. Needs it. |

Speaking of tires, that dunlop trailmax tr91 looks like a similar tire to the d616. I wonder how they compare? |

A nice looking tire, but I don't think the TR91's come in Uly sizes. I just mounted the original Conti Trail Attacks and spent an afternoon scrubbing them in with a bit of pavement and a lot of gravel, and even a small stream crossing. I'm pleased with them. |

Honestly, I was thinking of slapping a Michelin Pilot Road 4 on it... I mostly tour the tarmac on my Uly, and I live in Seattle... I haven't had chance to use one yet (have always had Scorpion Trails), but they look to be a good tire... Anyone? |

Michelin Pilot Roads are excellent road tires. I've been using them as my only tires for 7+ years. Good long wear rubber in the middle, softer more gripy rubber on the sides. I just bought my Uly and they have them on it. I will be looking for an alternative when I do some off-road stuff. I've got a tire changer, so switching between them won't be a big deal. |

I have a PR3 on the rear and PR2 on the front. Wished I had paid the difference and gotten the PR4. Michelin claims 20% more mileage out of the 4. I had a PR2 on the back but the tread pattern made it difficult to figure how much life was left on the tire because there was no tread grooves in the tire center. I prematurely changed it out to the PR3 because I was going on a long trip and had no clear idea how much tire life was left and didn't want it wearing out along the way. The PR3 and PR4 have center grooving so that makes it easy to gauge tire wear since most wear will happen in the center anyways. My opinion is that the Michelins PRoad tires are very good tires and that is all I will buy for the ULYs. |

If you did not, call back and ask Al to install the bearings, it's money well spent. |

Teeps, Already done! Was the first thing I did. Though I can (like most of us) press a few bearings, I always take advantage of someone with a press willing to do it. I'd pay anyone $20 to do it, rather than get out the All-Thread and Fender-Washers... <grin> Though, I'll admit... I'm not sure how that third bearing is sitting in the wheel... Might be a bugger to press... Another good reason to let Al do it! Al pressed the bearings in and shipped it out in the same day! Looks like I'll have the wheel (and the rotor/pulley bolts) Friday. I better order that tire! |

On the PR4's they have three styles. The off road one has the same tread pattern but the center portion of the tire is softer than the other versions. So if you're going for mileage get the road version. |

Isn't there a GT version too? I think it's for heavier bikes and 2 up touring. Is that correct? |

Just got my 2010 wheel (also from Al) and a set of PR4s to fit as soon as I can get down to the shop. Now to order a fresh set of bearings for the front. Looking forward to trying the PR4s. I had 3s on my XT and found the front a little vague compared to the factory fit Diablo Stradas (which were superb but wore too quickly). |

My Wheel was dropped off at the house by UPS last night. The thing is beautiful... That's a problem... I mean it. It's clean and perfect and smooth as a baby's butt... It needs to be framed and mounted in the living room! LOL Thanks Al, you RAWK! |

Are the torque settings the same for the 2010 wheel as the earlier ones? Fitting mine on Friday. |

I jut received my new pulley and scalloped rear rotor from Al (American Sport Bike) today. Going to build up this 2010 wheel this week, install a Free Spirits Belt Tensioner, slap a Pilot Road 4 on it, and throw it on the Uly this weekend. Some of you might be noting the obvious "overkill." All i'm hoping for is a little bit better gas mileage out of this damn thing!! LOL |

Well then you're going about it the wrong way! You need to talk more about which oil you're using! I mean if your not using Lubrimotive oil in your bike it's going to explode after 50,000 miles, get lousy gas mileage and you won't be able to get an accurate reading on your dipstick!! |
