Deffinetly not. There is some speculation as to the exact size. From personal experience, mine were swapped out with the belt upgrade, they are different. I havent had a chance to look them up and get the specifics from the parts manual or the tech who did the work. If you have any other questions I can answer let me know.

I think the difference between the 9 and 12 is in the primary drive ratios. |

That is suppossed to be the gist of things however I just talked to a chap in San Diego that did the belt upgrade on his 9S and was experiencing the same problem as Austinrider. |

Front and rear final drive pulleys are the same on '04 9s and 12s. The gearing difference is in the primary drive, where the 12 has a taller ratio because it has a lower redline, and enough torque to pull the taller ratio. Oh, and the 03 9 and 04 9 have the same primary ratio, so if you change the rear drive on an 03 XB to the rear drive for an 04 XB, there will be virtually no change in gearing. There is a tiny difference, but only a few mph at top speed. |

Hey anon, if you are ever in the Austin area, let me know. You can take my bike for a spin and show me those "few" extra miles of top end lost. edited by court on March 16, 2004 |
