Well the time is getting close so I need to make something to hold the engine for disassembly. I'm thinking the best mounting points to be the muffler mount locations. Two bolts in the rear and a pin or something in the front. This would seem to give the most working room. Can anyone see a problem or used a different approach?

What wrong with your engine?

Do a google search on buell/sportster engine stand. I found several for under $100. At the least it could give fabrication ideas.

Electra, third gear jumping so bad it's pretty much useless. I have the bike suspended and everything off except for the side stand and three mounts. Figure I'll be able to get the engine out in the morning then figure out how to hold it up.

B_i_r, I saw one for Sportster engines that looked like what I had in mind. Seems easy enough. Have to check the scrap bin at work to see if I can cobble one together.

Got it on the ground today, yay I think. Now the real fun begins. The rocker box gaskets that I did over 10K miles ago are still dry. What a shame to have to do them again.
