Both the stock and the K&N are the same price. Personally I would stick with the stock filter, less hassle and it filters better than the K&N |

Ok, so It's not a common part to be picked up elsewhere. Was at Harley yesterday and shocked at the prices. Disk pads, $60?!? Used to be the stuff that made the girls all hot n bothered, chrome crap, etc was pricey, but the stuff you needed to keep a bike running to get to work was reasonable. |

As far as I know, the XB is the only one to use that specific air filter, so it isn't like you can get one from Autozone or something like you can on the 1125R. There are many options available for brake pads, $60 sounds pretty cheap as the OEM pads for your bike are $111 last time I checked. American Sport Bike has a good variety of pads. |

What Froggy said. If you are racing and need every single hp number you can get at the top of the scale, and do an engine rebuild/freshen once a year, then the K&N "might" help. Mike |

If you have a stock ECU, I'd stay away from the K&N. The extra flow will just make the bike run even leaner and hotter than it already does. Been there, done that... |

The selling factor for the K&N for me is that it's cleanable and reusable. Properly serviced, the K&N will filter just as well as the stock non-reusable unit. I've been using them for 20 years on at least a dozen of my motorcycles without issue. Shop around (fleabay, etc.) and you can buy them quite reasonably. The key to properly cleaning the reusable filter is NOT to use compressed air and let them dry naturally so as not to damage the finer filter elements. Once re-oiled, they are good for about 2K miles before the next cleaning. Of course, detergent and filter oil are "extra" costs, but worth it in my humble opinion. |

BTW, EBC/HH brake pads (arguably the best) are in the $43.00 range for the front, and $30.00 range for the rear. |

Is that filter the same as one from a 2004 XB12R ? If so, I have a deal for you. |
