Bike starts up fine in the morning, and when I get off work. If you ride bike for a while and say stop for gas, and restart bike she will make a grinding crunching noise and then start. Sounds awful. Any ideas..... |

Mine has done that for years. I think a lot of them do that if you try to start it when it's already hot. I think it's somewhat normal. It sure is an ugly noise though! |

I can usually avoid mine doing that if I give the starter button a quick blip, let go, then start it again. I think it's all caused by the engine actually reversing while the starter is still engaged. |

My 08 XB does the same, but neither of my 06 12s have ever done it. While it does worry me a little, it has never failed to start, it is something I will deal with if something actually breaks. |

after trying to solve a unrelated problem,I pulled the grounds, battery tray out and really cleaned them up both on the frame and grnd connectors.(used dielectric grease}. I have no more grinding noise from starter.09 ULY |
