Man . . . . . . what GREAT memories. That's nearly identical to my first S1. That design just "works" and I still recall the day I first saw it . . . . . WOW |

Is this yours Spidey? Or are you just courting it? (See what I did there) |

The S1 really is one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever built. |

Perfect segue, Spidey! I stumbled upon a pic recently and since Court bit on your thread this is the perfect opportunity to use it.
It's oh so easy to do on an S1, 1313 |

That's my first glimpse too. A yellow S1. Made me buy one.
Had my heart set on an XR1000. Test rode several. Was close to owning one. Real rare in the UK.
This sidetracked me.
16 years later I still have mine. Rocket in England |

Warrs modified XR1000. This must be nearly 20 years ago! I should've bought it!

Rocket I remember the Warrs XR1000 saw it in his showroom 1995 and was still for sale. I was looking for an XR1000 back then but the Warrs XR was to pricey for me but lucky me I found a very good XR1000 just 2 days later at the Beaulieu autojumble for half the price (still have it). But John Warr and me made a deal a year later when I bought his 4 Speed RS1200 and then the story began :-) |

Now I am very envious. Warrs put me in touch with its owner who'd they'd done the work for and also selling for. We were haggling around £7500 back then. More than I could afford then. The red / silver one was for sale at Motex but she wouldn't allow me to test ride it. I walked away happily. The stock one was for sale privately near Oxford. I loved it but it too was more than I wanted to pay. I just couldn't afford it otherwise I'd own it now had I been able to. I'd love to see your XR. Pics very welcome. Would you ever sell it? I believe I may have seen your Buell at Warrs back then. If memory serves it was painted up like a race rep making it look similar to an RR if you squinted. Rocket in England |

Then stupidly I open your profile, and there is the RR. Did I see this also at Warrs. I believe I have a picture of it somewhere myself. It's the first one I ever saw if so. And why are you in Germany??? I wanted to come drool over your XR Rocket in England (Message edited by rocket_in_uk on June 14, 2014) |

I couldn't get any decent photos of my 96 S1 (HVY) due to it being a beautiful weekend here on the East Coast and the sun was far too bright and the garage far too crowded. but Spidey's photos prompted me to wheel mine out into the bright sun and take a few photos anyway. it's still "in work"....

My XR-1000 was one of the funnest bikes I've ever owned. I was crazy, back then, and bought the 1983 XR-1000 and the 1977 XLCR on the same day. |

Beautiful bike Jolly! That M/C certainly looks much better on your S1 than it did my S2 . |

Rocket "The stock one was for sale privately near Oxford. I loved it but it too was more than I wanted to pay. I just couldn't afford it otherwise I'd own it now had I been able to. " Maybe Bicester ? I bought my 5 speed RS1200 in Bicester and the seller offered me his pristine XR1000. I didnt buy it which I still regret. |

I don't recall him having any other bikes, and certainly not a Buell. We should stop talking about XR1000's otherwise I'll have to buy one, and now is not a good time with so many other projects and vehicles to finish or recommission. Please sell me yours Rocket in England |

There is NO sound in motorcycling like the sound of a XR-1000 at full throttle . . along side a concrete barrier wall. Bruce Zimmerman and I had both our XR-1000's next to each other, doing a roll on, on an early Sunday morning on I-70 and I still recall the wonderful sound. |
