So I'm trying to diagnose this problem.

I park in an underground garage at work. Every time I leave, without fail, going up the very steep ramp, my bike is very choppy when going up and for 5-10 seconds after I reach the top.

Its like I have no power for a second then all of a sudden I lurch forward.

This never happens on even ground...

any ideas what would cause this?

I suggest checking the float level in the carb.

Is this something that would be covered by the service manual? I've been meaning to pick one up but haven't yet.

Looking at guides online, this seems fairly difficult. Would there by any way to verify this is the problem before I take it apart?

Covered in the manual, but an unlikely cause if:
You've done nothing to the carb,
This is a new problem.

How long have you owned the bike?
How many miles on the bike?
Are you using first gear only?
Have you done anything recently to the bike?
Has the bike ever done this incline normally?

FWIW: Carbs don't "go out of adjustment".

There has to be a reason why. Such as:
The carb was taken apart,
The carb was dropped,hard,
Compression has dropped.

Again, if you think the carb is out of adjustment, there MUST be a reason why it's out of adjustment.

Owned the bike only about 2 months, but I bought it from the dealership. Its a 2008 that was used in the training classes. I find it unlikely they'd make any wrong adjustments at the dealership on a bike used in the classes...hopefully, anyway...

Only about 2,000 miles on it.

Using first gear on the incline yes. I go very slowly up the ramp though as I have to stop at the top as its a blind corner at the top.

I did this upon purchasing:

Replaced Spark Plug
Changed Oil
Changed Oil Filter
Changed Air Filter

The bike has done this since I purchased it.

My initial thought is that perhaps the incline was just putting undo stress on the bike, which was causing something to happen. But I'm not sure what the likely culprit is.

Did you change the oil first? How much oil did you put in?

I'm thinking that the bike may just not be warmed up enough for such a slow ride up a steep incline. Might not be possible for a Blast period! If this is the only time you have a problem, that might be it. You might just be lugging the engine. Changing the slow jet from the stock ultra lean #42 to a #45 might help.

Any other normal running problems?
