So often forums are riddled with, "my #%&**@@ broke, how do I fix it?" or, "anyone have this problem?" or worse, "my *&^@&% let me down again..."

I just want to say that I am on year 3 with my 2008 XB12XT and aside from some fouled plugs that I should have changed within my first week of ownership, my bike has been reliable as paper weight. Not that I want to completely jinx my good fortune and invite a bucket-of-bad-luck, but I have put 15K on the bike and 99% has been trouble free & quite joyous.

(ok, maybe 98% as I just had my fuel pump fuse pop on the way home from work. Simple-as-2nd-grade to fix though, and cost me $2.39)

Yeah, changing the plugs isn't as simple as it was on my M2. New bearings, belt and Free Spirits Tensioner all went on as precautions (not a guarantee), and I am nursing some light seepage from the clutch cable- but dang; I get on the bike, reach for that stupid-as-all-hell ignition switch location and she fires right-up, after the incurable starter hesitation, of course.

I haven't ventured out past a few hundred miles, but I plan on taking some trips later this year on the XT and explore more of Northern CA, by bike. I have 100% confidence that my Buell will get me to my destination and back home safely.

I use my Uly mostly for commuting up and down Hwy880. The gas mileage, time saved and turning a shitball commute into something to look forward to- all make the Uly experience well worth it.

Keep an eye on the known issues, learn to be handy with a wrench and embrace the idle vibes and you too may have the same fun as I.

Or not. And if you are one of those that understood what you were getting yourself into and the Buell still bit you- well that just sucks. I do feel empathy. Sometimes it rains when you want sun.

And sometimes it doesn't.

Like now.

So I'm going riding.

I'm a happy camper, just did 600+ miles in a few days riding from a cabin in N Wi.
did some time at Lake Superior and just some easy riding, nothing overly fast or dirty but pleasure riding extreme.
I love the thrust this Uly has but sometimes just chilling in 5th and passing in a lazy way feels good too..

I rarely see another Buell out there..

I too have had a great experience with my Uly. I lost a wheel bearing in Nowhere BC when we rode up to Hyder Ak., but we were fully loaded and two up with some spirited riding and the bearings had 23k on them. We just happened to be less than a 1/4 mile from an old farmer who had us back on the road in 2 hours. Lost the belt while riding some single track and logging roads but was only 10 min from home and was able to coast down the trail to the dirt road, that was the original belt with 25k on it.

Went out last Sunday and rode 2 up around Cda lake in N. Idaho. A great road and a fun bike. I sure do enjoy this bike.

That road on the east side of the lake is my new favorite ride.
