A couple months back I picked up a '98 S1. Was sitting for a bit so it had fueling issues. I was and am planning on selling my M2 and have been in the process of swapping all my goodies(those that fit) to the S1. One of those was the Mikuni to my S1 and the poorly running CV40 to the Cyclone. I tore it apart and cleaned it thoroughly(or so I thought). The Cyclone now fires up and idles perfectly, as well as revs with no popping. However, in gear under load and cruising, it pops and misses. Which jet am I dealing with and what do think is the issue? The main jet(I think) is running a 195. This is a stock Cyclone with a Forcewinder. I removed the full D&D.I would like to get this sorted before I sell it, this is the only thing holding me back from posting it for sale! |

Maybe a stuck floatbowl? Just guessing but that's the first thought that came to mind. It sounds like a similar issue to my brother's FXD which is difinitely not a jetting issue, because it's had the same jets for years and the problem is recent. |

Slow jet for low throttle conditions, stock was notoriously lean. |

Jim, take the CV off & give it a good clean out clean all small holes in body out blow out with compressor. i've had similar & was blocked passage ( for better word ?) check pilot jet size would use 46 as 48 is a bit fat. i would not go larger than 195 mj i change needles if they need more. or put a washer under needle , do not drill out vacuum hole. leave that stock size. |

Whoa I'm getting lost here. Jim, what are you trying to tell me? Change the slow jet? But what I am getting is popping above 2000 rpm under load, would that be the correct jet to mess with? Lakes, I assume you are talking to me. I had it apart and cleaned everything, that is my dilemma. Thanks for the feedback. |

Blackm2 sorry for the mix up, well if you cleaned it all & it's poping 2,000 rev under load, how is it at 3,000? i don't like to put them under load from 2,000 unless i'm just starting off. could be ignition. but also did you check the vacuum slide is working? as a damaged diapram rubber could stop it rising but i'm sure you would have checked that so could be ignition or a bad ground. |

No worries Lakes! Definitely not electrical as it was running like this on the other bike, just worse. If I really get on it, it will buck and pop at first and then it will pull hard. Once it settles into mid range though it does the intermittent popping. Actually I am going to check diaphragm function this morning. When I had it apart, it obviously had been doing this with the previous owner for some time. The white plastic ring, the center of the diaphragm, was burned and slightly deformed in one spot, however the rubber diaphragm was all intact. |

It could also be intake seals. It would certainly be possible for both bikes to have intake leaks. |

Changed 'em on both bikes Skn. Interesting to note, the intake seals on the bike that sat most of it's life were far worse than the one with 40,000 miles. |

Ok, maybe we can get some more input here, hopefully this helps. Sorry, I was flinching on a few of the backfires! Ha! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1aMkae0ltE&featur e=youtu.be |

Make sure the force winder isn't blocking the vent hole on the CV carb. Some Force Winders had to be relieved for the vent to work properly. |
