The bike can be fixed or replaced now that EBR is back in business.

I pray the rider was OK though, that looks like a potentially painful crash.

Surely somebody here can find "the rest of the story"...

Sad, but that looks very repairable. OK- who'll be riding the first salvage title 1190RX?

Looks like it went under the back of a tractor trailer.

Heck . . . . buy it and put the motor in your 1125.

:-)

Made a few calls, media demo. Wrecked hard, both wheels are bent, motor has been open for weeks and presumed to have at least some gravel in it. Broken sub frame, bent main frame, tweaked swing arm, are the big parts. The list goes on from there.

Hence the $25K estimate to rebuild . . . .

Where is Scott when you need him?

:-)

I get a kick out of these. We had a HD guy at a secret Buell event for the European moto-press once. I was assigned a group of guys from the UK and we went to Bryce Canyon . . .took their stunt riders (they had them wearing the editors helmet and leathers for the photos) out in the middle of nowhere and did things to motorbikes no sane person should do.

While they were busy . . . I did something to a factory S3 no sane person should ever don.

When we got back in St. George, UT that night I see a tarp over something in the far back corner of the warehouse we'd rented to store and have the bikes worked on at night.

I was told that it was "not necessary" for us to know what it was.

Later that night I went to visit with the mechanics . . . working on putting a list of things together for the factory folks and took a peek (and a photo) . . . sure enough one of the HD folks had tried to keep up with one of the magazine folks on a winding mountain road and . . . at a handsome speed . . launched a gorgeous new Onyx with PM X1 off a cliff.

Rider leapt off and landed on the road undamaged.

The bike . . .after spending about 20 seconds on FAA radar screens . . . .fare less well.

Another one of those things we still can't talk about for 3 years.

Where is the video! : )

Gravel and media demo suggests it was wadded on the track, which is a good sign for a rider to have had a chance to walk away.

As someone that's done essentially just that, I will say it's a non-trivial project.

The bike physically assembles without much difference, but then you have to deal with cooling, engine management, and so on. That's the details that get you.

Might wanna reach out for some pointers if you go this route.

Dave Gess can tell the tale of the time the moto-journalist . . . . and I can't recall who it was . . . wrecked the Road Dawg. The bike . . . had one of the most interesting histories.

. . . . eventually Wild Bill was gunned down by the police and Buzz Walneck ended up with the bike.

Remind Dave to tell you sometime . . . .

Good idea to leave the open throttle bodies out in the rain.
I have always love the Gelbke Roadog. Hilarious over the top so ugly it's beautiful.

That Gelbke guy was trying to sell his idea for huge car powered touring bike. I think it was called "auto-4" or something.
Looked like a caveman saw a Goldwing and carved one out of wood.

Court ". . . . eventually Wild Bill was gunned down by the police and Buzz Walneck ended up with the bike."

Funny you should mention his name Court; I met Buzz when he was an up and comer and had a classic bike shop in a suburb of Chicago. He bought my 86" Sportster turned into a nice flat tracker after a short stint as my trying to do what Erik eventually did, and build a cafe/sport bike two years before HD made their CR1000 in 1977. It was at a bike show/swap meet in McCormick place at the time. A great guy with a real nice wife starting out. I have tried to track him down but to no avail.

Below is that bike. 86", three disc brakes, oil in the rect. tube frame (my idea), snowflake mag wheels, Delorto carb, quarter fairing and custom exhaust. I think it was the only one kick start bike in Chicago. HA! BUT it handled like S*** and it was the start that eventually led me to Erik/Buell and EBR . Thanks bud. Still lovin' it after all these years. Sorry about the old Polaroid picture quality and hijacking the thread, it was a long time ago. I never wrecked it though. Bob

$5000.00, too much for an engine to put in the TW.

Just now tried the link in the OP. No luck. Does the site take links down if the sale has been completed?

Flooded? How bad can it be? Unless it was running when it got flooded, and hydrolocked the cylinders.

I was looking at the closeups of the floodbike. I think it may have been under freshwater for a long time. Top of fork tubes' brass fittings look corrody. My 50K mile uly's adjusters don't look brown like that.

Perhaps the whole thing is rusted solid inside the cases.
