My question is pretty straight forward. Between a big bore bolt on kit (like the one from nrhs) and the xb9 swap, which gives the best performance gain? |

An XB12 engine in a BLAST would make a great sleeper !!! |

XB9 swap, hands down. If you mean the 515 big bore (which it hardly is. Just .063" overbore) XB9 has a much more efficient combustion chamber which means more power AND better gas mileage! Of course you can get the XB9 in a 515 kit too. The stock XB head will already be set up for B70 spec cams and 7500 rpm in stock form (aka: stage 2 head). |

You need an XB9 piston and an XB front head (XB9 or XB12 use the same head). That's it. A stock XB head is already a "stage 2" head good for 7500rpms-so dont let someone talk you in to modifying it. You can go further. XB cams will work. You'll need a new ignition to go to 7500rpms. You can get a 10.5 piston or an XB 515 kit. The only thing I'm not 100% sure on is if the XB uses unequal length pushrods like the Blast. I use adjustable pushrods, collapsible push rod tubes and better lifters-it makes cam changes and other repairs A LOT easier. |

I believe the XB setup uses the same pushrods as the Blast. But If you can get the full setup from someone, you will be better off. You will also need to make a 90deg engine mount for the rear head mount to tie bar. There should be pictures somewhere here on the forum. It would be nice if we could get Hammer Performance to make us a nice billet mount like how they make the front engine mount. |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/664428.html I haven't found the top tie bar mount picture here yet, but it's on my other computer. Very simple to make. |
