Am I lucky it is still together? Should I stop using it? It looked great everywhere except for this one spot:

Well, if that one spot broke, could you still ride it? |

I must have had a spot that looked like that and I missed it on my de-winter/spring inspection. I was passing two cars on a two lane highway at some good speed using full throttle(I was enjoying myself). Then right after I got past the cars the engine was bouncing off the rev limiter. I backed off the throttle and then gunned it again. Obviously with the same results. I quickly got in front of the lead car I just passed, basically cutting him off at this point and immediately over on the skinny shoulder. I'm sure I upset the driver(s) but oh-well, it couldn't be helped. If one was to arm-chair quarterbacks the event, I could have handled it better. But at the end of the event everyone was ok. Now for the very cool part. Called my mom-and-pop insurance agent/broker and asked if I had road side assistance. I do and he said he would call them and take care of that. He called back and told me that no one was answering. Memorial day weekend, who wants to work? Right? He would try his normal towing service and have the bill sent to him. He called back again and said the guy was two or three hours away from getting me. So, my insurance guy come with his truck and trailer and rescues me. That's a good insurance guy! Okay, back on track.... I had a little over 25K on this belt and I am not nice with the throttle. Surprised it lasted that long. I should have one hanging in the garage along with a spare clutch cable(I'm sure it's next...). So now I'm on the hunt for a belt. Since I'm an impatient man and plan on riding my bike to Road America Moto GP race I need it by friday. So, if HD has one I'm buying, but I will be calling American Sport Bike too. Happy riding!!! That belt should be retired to the trash can. |

My bet is you could remove it in an instant by spinning the rear wheel on gravel an onto clean pavement. |

Turf moor - Almost 15,000 miles, on a 09 belt. I ordered a belt, and it should be in next week. |
