So now that the launch of the RX is behind us, and we await their arrival in dealerships. How will they launch the SX? Its apparent that EBR is not in the IMS shows, so what does that leave? Surprise magazine article? Show up at the races with it in tow? Ideas anyone? |

Dear Court, with the advent of the interwebs, companies can conduct a world wide product virtual release from any where on the globe. LOL I suspect they will show up at a race though. |

>>>>with the advent of the interwebs, companies can conduct a world wide product virtual release from any where on the globe. As was envisioned by Buell . . . the FIRST manufacturer of wheeled vehicles to have a www. site. Some of the work I did at M.I.T. on a confidential Buell program would have changed, I think, a great number of things if HD had not killed the program. As good fortune would have it . . . I kept all the documents, including daily e-mails between Erik and I when I reported in each day . . . the notebooks of work product and the video . . . shot at the Harvard Faculty Club. . . showing what we came up with. I also have the photos from when I flew to the San Fran to speak, with Bill Gates, at the Cow Palace and present the amazing ground breaking work Buell was doing. It was squashed. But . . it was fun . . with the help of the famous Woz . . to ride the S1 onto the stage. |

Shoulda tried a wheelie. |

>>>>Shoulda tried a wheelie. Actually . . . my one and only goal was not to join the ranks of those who'd had "stage moments". There have been, that I am aware of, 3 "incidents" ar Harley-Davidson unveilings. Two were the predictable "oops, I missed the ramp on approach". My favorite was the fabled tale os Scott Miller {FYI now a VP at HD, in MKE, WI) who had been riding a 3 wheeler for months . . . at least long enough to get conditioned to roll to a stop without putting a foot down. He rode the new FLHTCUIPDQVIP or whatever up the ramp, turned to his right, smiled at the assembled in the audience, rolled to a stop and kaaaaapow. Ooops. I had The Woz positioned across the stage with a small flashlight to serve as a point of reference. The funniest part of the whole deal was, after picking the bike up at Dudley Perkins, arriving at the Cow Palace, finding the huge underground tunnel network and having the facilities guy tell me "hell, go ahead and ride it . . .it'll take forever if you have to push it the whole way". The sound of the S1, even with the stock pipe, in the catacombs below the Cow Palace made the 60 second ride a trip. By the way . . . just to clarify . . . I did not speak with Biell Gates, I did my deal and he appeared after me to speak on a new Microsoft product. When I was introduced to him backstage (he had his own "tent" set up by his handlers with couches, M&M's, table lamps and it was akin to something like an Arab Sheik would have out in the middle of the desert . . . . We shook hands and I asked "who do you work for?" Fun stuff. Looks like their may be a reunion in the works for the old group from Cambridge Technologies and perhaps an exciting event in the Boston area. |

Anyone hear any hints on when we will see the SX? Erik mentioned in a recent magazine article that it was close. It would be nice if EBR would at least throw out some hints of the bike like they did leading up to the reveal of the RX. |

I asked Erik that question at Daytona. I got a huge smile and "soon". He sorta hesitated before he said it as if we was going to say something substantial, but stuck with "soon". Then I asked him if there would be any thought of a "low" or options for a lower seat height. (I am so short legged that I can't even get a RX off the side stand). All I got was another grin. Who knows? |

Hughlysses yea I was talking about that article. I know they like to keep things under wraps, but at some point folks get tired of waiting, and a total lack of info just makes those eyes wander to other brands. Fast1075 I appreciate your input. I've just been hoping that someone outside of EBR had maybe seen a test mule etc. We need someone to camp out side the factory . |

LIve internet announcement would be cool. have various buell/ ebr groups meet around the country, and have large video screens set up in each area. announce it to all electronically.......who knows....live feeds, from the factory and back from the groups of fans. also have it live on the internet like the new ama races are being shown. the whole world could dial in and watch together.... |

In an interview in this weeks MCN the European EBR MD Edwin Belonjesays that SX will be launched at the EICMA Milan show in November. The paper devotes 8 pages this week to a test of the RX, pictorial of the EBR factory and interview with Erik. The test is largely positive (bike was tested on a wet circuit so not really given a hard time) although the conclusion was that it was good performance 'blindingly fast' 'stops and steers like a conventional bike (as far as we can tell' and 'comes with a huge dose of charisma'. However.......'it may fall some way short in some key areas - notably the spec of its electronics options-and its sucess (in the UK) will hinge on that, and the speed that they can set up a UK dealer network' The criticism of the electronics was due to the fact that you cannot adjust the various TC levels while moving, and that there is no ABS, engine mode options or quickshifter (which all the opposition has). |

I can bet there will be a quick shifter option whether there is or not, there wasn't one at the press launch in Europe and that is why they criticised this omission. |

"How will they launch the SX? Its apparent that EBR is not in the IMS shows, so what does that leave?" crush it, play the tape backwards as a commercial. Start with Eric sitting on the block and end with him riding away. The undoing of the blast death scene (and the Harley shackles). I'm sure the CG techs could make it happen without actually crushing a new bike. |

EBR has already signed on as a participant at the AIMExpo October 16-19. Seems like a very good chance they'll introduce the SX there just like they did the RX last year. |

Hughlysses, Yea I was thinking that same thing. In their press release they say they will be there with an expanded presence. That hints to me of another bike release. It would be real cool if they also introduced the AX also, even if it was a "concept" bike (Hint Erik). I know if they did I would be putting down a deposit at my dealer for one. |
