06 Uly,about 44k miles. Stock engine. Well maintained bike. I started having this problem when riding out to Austin TX for MotoGP this spring.Got home, and sorta forgot about it. I only use this bike for long rides. I rode it again on a 1500 mi trip the last few days,I remembered real quickly that it had a problem. At freeway speeds plus, the engine light blinks and engine bogs down/misses,power dies. Dump the throttle once or twice and the light stops blinking, throttle restored. Can happen under any load, at any speed ranging from about 65 and up. Seems independent of any particular speed, engine load, road conditions. I cant really place a reason for it. it just seems random. Been going on for about 3k miles. Bike never dies, and always responds to dumping the throttle. I cant be bothered with traveling under 65. I have no reason to not ride the bike, and have faith it will always correct with a throttle dump..but at freeway speeds of 75 plus, a throttle dump can be a bit precarious in high speed traffic. I have a big trek through Canada coming up in July and am at wits end. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Mark |

Sounds like the computer thinks the engine is overheating. The question now would be: Is it actually overheating or is the engine temp sensor lying? You need to hook up with ECMspy and ask that little computer some questions. |

Well, I have a cable which I bought years ago, but has went unused. I misplaced the program somewhere along the way. I am sure there is much information on the forum about procuring a copy and using it, so I wont complicate this thread with that. I'll try to get it going, but honestly don't even know where to begin with such technology. I bought Buells because I thought they were simple. Me caveman. |

Dirty tps potentiometer is my guess since rolling the throttle across the cruising spot gets it to clear. There is a duralast part number floating around the forum for Auto zone that might be worth a try for the $20 it will cost you. You will need to reset the tps with your cable and either tunerpro or ecmspy. |

Check your battery connections, and then check your battery. If it's below a good charge your ECM is getting bad signals. |

cracked ECM terminals are most likely the cause, after you eliminate: battery ground terminations connector pin fit If the above prove inconclusive, then the Engine Temp Senor would be next in line. See this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/726411.html?1334338510 The photos in the original post are mia; but the remaining ones show the problem. |

Thanks for the info one and all. Battery is new, checks good. Charging is good. Grounding is good when checked with a meter. Greg's idea of the TPS Pot is interesting and seems logical, I'll pay attention here. Teeps, thats a good read, and yes it does seem in the realm of my problem. Connectors seem ok to me, but again, I'll pay close attention to this. I have my cable, and downloaded version of ecmspy, I plan to hook it up and see what I can learn with that.I assume I can plug it in, and if I can ride it and get the fault to happen while hooked up to my laptop, I'll be able to narrow down or pinpoint the fault? THX AGAIN! Mark |

I think to do what you want you may want TunerProRT. Its free just download the premium version the only difference between that and "unlocked" copy are a 10 sec. wait screen when you open the program. Tuner Pro can datalog...I haven't used ECMspy so I do not know that it can datalog. |
