Great pics, Alan. Thanks for posting.

Did you get any "inside scoops" on what's up with the team's efforts? Any new parts or other improvements coming down the pipe?

Donington has sure turned out to be a mixed bag. Aaron turned in a 17th place finish yesterday which I believe is the best for EBR this season. OTOH, Geoff was unable to qualify and (SPOILER ALERT) Aaron crashed today with 14 laps remaining.

geoff had electrical problems yesterday hence not qualifying, new exhaust system, not sure if it's for noise regs in europe still or performance, massive pipe though.
rumours that they want more braking, twin discs up front.
lots of parts look similar to stock, swing arm especially where some teams are spending ££££ on swing arms, good luck to the team we're all behind them, malaysia could be tough though with the two very long straights, more pics to follow too

I was lucky enough to sit on a RX today. Wow! What a machine. Good luck to Eric and good luck to Steve (Who is Mr EBR in the UK). These bikes couldn't have a more enthusiastic team behind them

Oh yea, note the EBR front wheel on the Uly in the pic above too.

Is it just me, or does it look like Aaron making his move on the blond on the red 1190RX?

I think that's a stock Buell wheel on the Uly, actually.

And, hey, the blonde is cute; who wouldn't want to chat her up?

I wonder who manufactures that new caliper? Still nissan or maybe brembo?

So they are not running the quiet stock exhaust with the quarter wave resonator and are using an aftermarket pipe that is too loud which requires more muffling to meet noise regs? Oh well, they are in it to learn.: )

Considering the technical problems they had all weekend why does it look like the mechanics have all the time int he world to stand around chatting?

rumours that they want more braking, twin discs up front.

No, Really? Who'd a thought it?

I think that's a stock Buell wheel on the Uly, actually.

On second look, you're right. I mistook the double spokes for the "split" spokes of the 1190RS/RX front wheel.

It's hard to tell much about the braking system from the few photos we get here.

If I'm ever so close to one of these machines, I ain't gonna waste my time taking pictures of the body work. I want to see parts.

Woah. That ain't from Kansas, anymore. Looks like they retained the split design but have upgraded to 3 M10-ish fasteners instead of the 4 M8 of the RX era. The flush axle-mount of the new caliper is trick. I'll bet it's a decent amount more rigid.

Any chance you got a radial shot of that rotor? A few things about it intrigue me...

that's all the pics i got
what else you wanna know?
it did sound weird braking from high speed, almost like a 4 cylinder bike was decelerating but it was the sound from the disc, then they get on the gas and proper v twin again

So, you are saying you heard a "Whhirrrrrrrrr" as they were on the brakes?!?!?

Holy shit. I think I know what's up, but I would need close ups of the edge of that rotor to prove it.

It's left-overs from years ago -- Maybe 2008 or so. A buell engineer named Tony Stefanelli. He suggested something to me on a factory tour one day.

And, I want to know *everything* ; )

The sound that's in the video is indeterministic to me. My bike makes a similar noise on decel from the chain and idler gear, and I've heard any number of ordinary Ducati make that very noise on the brakes.

I'm back to needing some very specific pictures.

The whirr noise on decel is likely from the chain on the idler sprocket. Why it makes that noise I don't know, but others have commented that the 1190Rs's make that kind of noise on decel too.

Curious about the quick disconnect aspect of it...
Wouldn't it be more easy to just change wheels like with the XBs? I always thought it was the most easy of any bike I had.

Wouldn't you have to re-bleed the line if you pop it off?

> Wouldn't you have to re-bleed the line if you pop it off?

No. It's a dry-break line, and the fact it disconnects easily and does not compromise the hydraulic connection is the feature of the kit.

I have this piece, and it's really quite special and highly recommended for racing applications.

When using the larger ZTL2-style caliper, it is very difficult to change the front wheel leaving the caliper in place. I know there's a few YouTubes out there with guys showing how it can be done, but in a race application you have a belly pan and the removal of the pad retaining clips adding to the difficulty of getting the wheel back in place if you don't drop the caliper.

So, the two most common solutions have been a really long front brake line with a lot of slack, or the quick-disconnect line you see above or on the EBR site.

For racing, the quick-disconnect is the way to go because you never have to futz with getting the caliper on the wheel, so changes are really quick and easy, and many of the professional guys on this platform are replacing the pads and rotors EVERY time, so you get a whole "new" brake system each time you go out. It makes no sense to use anything else.

So instead of plucking your buddies kill switch when the light turns green, you can now reach over and disconnect his front brake line right before the flag drops. ; )

It's all fun and games until somebody ends up in the kitty litter...
