Hello! I don't own a Buell but as a big fan of the bikes I've read this website and enjoyed it many many times in the past. I'm looking at a 2008 Blast for sale, and it looks pretty good overall. One thing I do see though, is traces of an oil leak on the front of the engine. Does this look like a rocket box gasket leak? I poked around in there as best as I could, almost looks like whoever had it last apart used some orange RTV sealant...

Well you don't say how many miles are on the bike, that would help. It could just be the PCV grommet and hose leaking which is very common and very easy and cheap to fix. The second would be the rocker cover gasket leaking. Common and a little more involved to repair. Parts are about $20. Knowing the mileage would help. Considering that the exhaust has been painted, I would assume that they would have also cleaned off the front of the engine if they had fixed the leak. But I'm guessing. Mileage and price would help if you're looking at this as a good deal or not. |

It's a 2008 with just over 5000km on it. Asking price is $3500 Canadian... |

Seeing the RTV in the photo...I'm leaning towards rocker box cover leaking. |

Thanks for the replies all. So from what I've done research wise on the Blast, the rocker box gasket(s) is fairly easy to replace? I've turned wrenches on bikes before. Pretty much just have to remove the tank and access from top of the engine? |
