A Girl I met on another motorcycle forum is having problems with her bike....shes broke...collage student...bike is her only transportation...and needs some help...So I have decided to take a 600 mile round trip to fix her bike for her...Looking at the maps ...it should be a Beautiful ride thru the mountains of WV and Va. I'll be sure to post some pics along the way |

If you're near Frederick MD, look me up. Can toss a burger on the grill or fiddle with your bike if anything pops up. I've ridden my Uly to Florida so many times I can't count. And to the Dragon. And WVBR. And Homecoming. They're great long-haul bikes, 600 miles will go by in the blink of an eye! |

Yeah...well...Thank god my main reason for taking that trip was to get the Uly out and do a test ride of a longer variety....The girl turned out to be a complete loser...the bike a complete piece of junk that had 42K miles and didn't look like it had ever been serviced at all. I Didn't bother getting pics of either. That part of the trip I'd just as well forget. What I will remember though...is how nervous I was the entire ride down there that something would go wrong with the bike...but then...after about 300 miles...i got a lot less nervous and started really feeling confident with the bikes condition and ability to really make a decent dependable touring bike...so i thought...lets see how she does...and I set out on WV route 250 North....Not knowing where i was going other than north...I rode the next 160 miles thru 20-35mph twisties and switchbacks ...up and down 8 and 9% grades...Thru 3 National forests...It was some of the hardest...most technical riding I have done ...took almost 5 hours to go 160 miles...and By the time I got to Elkins WV I was BEAT. Stayed in a nice clean super 8 in Elkins and set out the next morning the same route...250 N to 119 North then finally hit 79 ( the slab) at Morgantown for the ride home. The Mighty Ulysses Did AWESOME. The motor didn't cough...not one time the entire trip...I consider this to be awesome considering 160 miles of the trip were done in mainly 1rst and 2nd gears with just a little third thrown in. Up hills...down hills... not to mention 400 miles of slabbing it....without a single cough? My faith in this bike is growing every day. |

Awesome trip! I love hearing stories on this site about how awesome these bikes are. I've had my Uly for a year now and have to take it out for longer than a day trip, but hoping to get out there this year and do some camping! Definitely feeling better about it now after hearing your tale! |

Nice report! I'm always nervous about a break down far from home that could cost a gazillion getting a dead bike home. those were Guzzi's and they never let me down.. I knew them well and hope to get to know my Uly just the same.
