I am looking for a paint match for my Volcano Grey bodywork. I read on a post from a few years ago the 2000 A6 Audi used the same color and called it Cashmere Mica? Any info would be appreciated.

ppg# 303827 is 2002 Volcano Grey... I doubt that it will cross to other paint lines but even if you have an idiot PPG dealer that can't find it I can email you a formula he can mix DBC from

from what I see it's just standard clear coat over the top, it's not showing Volcano Grey as a tri-stage color

I guess I'm confused as to why you would use Audi cashmere mica unless you happened to own a car that color and have some extra paint laying around. Even if there are no PPG dealers in your area (There are two here in this town of 18k and we are 100 miles from any city) as Koz posted there are places on the net to order paint from.

I've been either working in a bodyshop or around paint for the last 22 years, if I'm not doing an all over I'd much rather try to use the factory shade as trying to make something "close" work typically sucks and is time consuming. I recently painted a HD Dyna for my dad, he wanted it back the same color scheme it was when he bought it...unfortunately it was not a HD color scheme...I had two days of tinting a color that was "close" before I ended up with a color that was close enough he was okay with it lol

it's not just close, it is the same formula IIRC, just as any perfect match by code won't look perfect on a bike. FWIW

Audi Cashmere Mica OEM code LZ1T is PPG# 28328 which there are two variants, prime and darker than prime. Volcano Grey for Buell motorcycles is PPG# 303827 only prime, the formulas are similar but not the same. They have the same toners in them but the values of the toners are different. I'm looking at both formulas right now on my phone.

maybe it was a touch up formula that was the same, maybe they figured it was close enough?
