Might duplicate the inlet holes on the right side of the box so it can breathe and pull air from both sides.... It has been suggested the reason was not only to increase air flow but to reduce the intake of heated air from the opening in the frame above the rear cylinder. Makes sense to me, everybody here knows how hot it gets on the right leg near that gap.
