Another normal day here in sunny and windy Northern Colorado. Got the bike out running errands as soon as it warmed up to about 50. Came home and waited for my son to get home from school. Recruited him to help me load some recycling into the truck. Always wanting to look my best for the nice people at the recycling place (eyes roll), I randomly threw on my triumph jacket paired with my star wars-esque riding boots, dropped off the recycling and headed to the grocery store. Was chitchatting with my son in the parking lot on the way in and this 60 something guy looks at my triumph jacket then turns around and heads back towards us. "Do you ride a triumph?" "Well, not anymore, we traded our last one for a Buell". "Really? A Buell? I used to have a 2010 Ulysses". I replied, "A Ulysses? Wow, we have two. Ideal bikes for riding around these parts". He then proceeded to tell us about the unfortunate demise of his Uly on the interstate in Denver. It did not end well for the bike, but he was ok. We talked a little bit about our mutual hopes for EBR and the AX, and finished the conversation by him recommending some roads for us to ride. You meet the nicest people that ride (or rode) the best bike that is no longer made. B. (Message edited by fltwistygirl on March 13, 2014) |

I have heard these kind of things all throughout my Uly ownership, along with the riders who wanted a Uly but had not got there yet. |

"I never met a mean Uly driver." Me either. Maybe a little crazy, but never mean. Or pretentious. "I have heard these kind of things all throughout my Uly ownership, along with the riders who wanted a Uly but had not got there yet." Yep. They tend to be awesome individuals, different breed of cat. I've never met one I didn't like. What I liked about the whole experience was that it was soooo random. I am rarely surprised when stuff like this happens when I am on the Uly. Yesterday I was like every other typical soccer mom, grabbing groceries with my son, and wearing no true m/c gear with the exception of my sidi boots which I sometimes forget to take off after a ride cuz they are comfy as slippers. The triumph jacket is cotton, kind of like sweatshirt material, definitely a fashion jacket versus a riding jacket. An additional neat thing about that jacket is the only other person that has ever made a comment about it is the reverend horton heat. Doesn't get much cooler than that! |

Totally agree.... When I first moved to Texas, I mean first got here, I had loaded up my 06 uly in the back of the rented uhaul so I could get back when I dropped off the truck. On the ride home wouldn't you know, I rode up next to a guy on an 08 uly.... Gave em the thumbs up, and we stopped for gas and chatted it up a bit. He even had an extra set of bags I wound up buying from him. Only time I've ever seen another uly while out on mine.... |

Cool story, Gp81! "Only time I've ever seen another uly while out on mine...." That's surprising being that you are close to some of what may be some of the best riding in TX. I'd guess that there would be a plethora of Ulys there. For a brand that is no longer, Buell certainly has some loyal fans, staying power as well as being a great lemons to lemonade stories. We were in Pueblo recently and stopped by a peanut-shells-on-the-floor type burger joint for lunch. A random sticker caught my attention, and I sent our son to investigate. Sho 'nuff, it was a Buell sticker on a cabinet door. After we finished eating, I moseyed up to try to get the skinny on the story behind the sticker. The worker said a regular customer was a big fan of Buells and put it there. Couldn't help but think how that door would look even better with an EBR sticker. |

And the BB&D forum has the nicest denizens, too! Since getting the GSW I put my $0.02 in now and then on the odd GS board, and usually get yelled at, or worse. Everybody here is so nice by comparison (well, there IS old, uh, um...oops, guess I forgot that guy ) --Doc |

Belinda - I sure wish y'all would head south on a Saturday ride. I'm always stuck at the shop... would love to have a F2F. I'm definitely one of the crazy ones. Almost got out last Sunday, first day off in a month. Too many Honey-Do's, BTW - always carry a rain-suit this time of year. Like Florida we get a lot of afternoon thunderstorms. The rain is a LOT colder tho. Zack I'm in the BRAN listings |

Hey Zack We would love to get together for a ride. Greg can certainly relate to the honey do woes. He has a mile long list of stuff to do to prepare us for this summers Minnesota adventures. Hope he can knock most of it out before this weekend or on sat. And with the pm showers pattern I am having Fla flashbacks. At least its not in the 90s but the hail and potential for flash floods is creepy. Glad for my raingear. This is my last weekend in Colorado til sometime in July or August....Mn is keeping me hopping this summer. Maybe we will give u a shout this weekend. B. |

BeLinda, You're missing it here in central Florida. This weekend its supposed to be high 90s with heat index over 100. I know you miss that. I recently went to Kuwait and Abu Dhabi and found myself thinking, "I can't wait to get home to cooler temps". |

"You're missing it here in central Florida. This weekend its supposed to be high 90s with heat index over 100." Yeah, Jake, I miss that like I miss an abscessed tooth! My three least favorite things about FL are June July and August. I can't imagine the heat in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi. The only time we felt getting back to Florida was gonna feel cooler was during a July 4th trip to Savannah and Hilton Head Island. It was well into the 100's before factoring the heat index. YUK! |

While riding back from the Hollister Indian store grand opening a few weeks back, a bike passed me by I didn't recognize. I should have, I was riding one also! It was funny at the time that two Ulysses on Highway 85. Just seemed so weird to see another one out there. |
