What if I leather wrap all the bodywork? Using a high quality leather and a rich natural color, Having the tank, tail, and fairing done.... got the idea when I was thinking about having my seat re wrapped Done properly, I think it could look really good, would just require occasional conditioning | ||

Have not got that far. It will be the tank and seat wrapped in a soft leather with buell tooled into it found a guy to do just have to get to that point in my build | ||

I repainted my last bike and swore I'd never do it again, lol. Paint isn't too bad, but the prep work is atrocious. I'll be going the 3M vinyl wrap direction this time (grey carbon fiber). Leather wrap though would definitely be unique... Should have fringe and saddle bags to complete the look.  | ||

Imagine how heavy the bike would get in the rain  My old leather jacket(when it was new) would saturate with so much water that my scrawny 17 year old frame couldn't barely get off the bike after a ride. | ||

If you go with leather, have some long fringe hanging off the side of the tank, and on the back part of the tailpiece...Maybe on the sides of the flyscreen too. | ||

You guys should do some reaserch as the old truiphs and indians use to do this its a tight wrap most would not even know from 10 ft thats its leather. | ||

I'm curious to see what this project will look like in a natural brown leather, it doesn't really fit my interpretation of the Buell spirit, but every owner may modify his bike to his tastes... But in keeping with the proposed theme, I wonder how a few more seams with brass or chrome rivets along some of the seam joints (corners) would look, sort of a "Steam-punk" sort of thing? While going for a refined finish, it seems like a treatment that implies the bike is more raw than refined may fit its personality better. Are you going to be sticking with a black seat for some variation in color? Anyway, I suggest that you don't get your "knickers" in a bunch just because someone doesn't like an idea. This is an open forum, and as far as I can tell this thread was started with the intention of getting opinions. Ask for clarification rather than just going straight to being offended. Rocket speaks his mind, and doesn't fool around in getting there - that should be a good thing. I think it's great to have his passion for what he sees as the Buell spirit represented here again, if you look into his bike a bit you'll see some pretty cool stuff. Getting off my soap box now.
