Gearloose or anyone else interested in camping, Check out this map. SE WI camping Ottawa Lake, White Water Lake, Bong and Big Foot Beach are all pretty close. Big Foot Beach is the closest but no alcoholic beverages are allowed. Is beer considered an alcoholic beverage? It would be kind of funny to stay at Bong State Rec Area! I was kind of leaning toward either Ottawa Lake or White Water lake in the Kettle Moraine area. |

Unless they have changed, staying in a Super 8 is worse than camping. At least the Red Roof Inn's are quiet. If it weren't for the small beds, Motel 6 isn't bad either. Anybody remember the modular constructed Knights Inn's? The construction was so cheap you snagged your clothes on the door frames and often woke up to a snow drift inside compliments of the short front door with no reasonable weather stripping. FYI, most of the Knights Inn's were converted to Super 8's. These Super 8 conversions were miserably hot in summer and cold in winter. Stayed in one just outside of Washington DC and a friggin rat crawled in under the door. Yikes!!! Found a new use for my shoes that night. So ask before you commit to a room. PS: The funny part of the Washington story was that my boss and I flew in from LA to meet with a client. My boss was a real PIA for living frugal on the road, so I booked the cheapest room I could find in the area. He changed his tune after that night. LMAO

After further research I've eliminated White Water. They only have pit toliets and no showers. That's NOT camping in my book! That's torture! I am looking seriously at Ottawa Lake, specifically the Pine Woods campground. They have tent sites, rest rooms and shower facilities. It is near the town of Eagle on Hwy. 67 just west of Mukwonago. It's about 20 miles from Delevan and only about 7 miles from East Troy (as the crow flies). Coolice, I've got to hand it to you. That's camping! You could stay at Ottawa Lake if Lake Lawn doesn't allow RV parking. They have sites with full electric hookup, etc. |

Thunderbold_dad, Thanks for the very generous offer but that wouldn't be what I consider camping. I looked at a map and saw that Greenfield is right in the metro area. I live in south Minneapolis and like to get out in the wilderness and camp. Well, as long as the wilderness has flush toliets and showers! Thanks anyway for the offer! |

Stars overhead, bsn around a campfire? That sounds pretty fun and adventuresome, and I'd sure enjoy it !! But then when it gets late, I head off to the hotel by the mall to sleep in the nice soft bed, with fresh smelling sheets, after a hot shower to get the smoke smell out of my hair !! LOL CJ |

The hell with the campfire, Thats what I got the convertible for, put the top down, drive along the coast with the moon shining across the ocean with all the stars in full view. Then drive off to the hotel by the mall to sleep in the nice soft bed, with fresh smelling sheets, after a hot shower which is required due to ........................... I like CJ's Idea much better!!!!!! |

You can now create subtopics on this thread. Click on the "New Thread" link at the bottom of the subtopic listing. We should probably move this to the Storm Fronts too, eh? Blake (practicing his Candian, eh) |

I was going to consider flying into Milwaukee or Chicago then when I looked online for web fares they are outrageous!!!!!! Oh well unless there is a major seat sale I won't be attending, besides I have a group of Buellers coming over in August and I think a smaller group are visiting in June sometime.

Online prices are crazy. I was looking last week for the wife & I to go to Vegas for a weekend. Found a deal that was just over $400 for the 2 of us & staying at the Riviera. Clicked on the days I wanted to go, then they have you select the fights & all of a sudden that $400 trip turned into $1100...screw that. Think I will stick with Funjet or Apple vacations. |

I wish I could. Homecoming three years ago was the first BRAG event I went to and I met great people and had a great time. Unfortunately I'm gonna be in the Land of the Rising Sun still. I'll be in the Carolina's come September, though! Bryan |

Charlotte, Same for me. I'm most likely (98% sure) going to be there. I'm not a current BRAG member as we don't have an active chapter. No sense paying the membership and getting no benefit. Brad
