Geoff May mentioned on Facebook prior to the last WSBK race that they had a new front brake scoop on their RX's. I just stumbled on this on the FB page for BestemUSA:

Neat! For those with an RX: Does the scoop screw into the form bottom, or is there a fitting in the axle? Do you have to drop the scoop when swapping tires? | ||

Scoop comes off in 60 seconds ... 2 bolts. It looked kinda goofy so I took mine off .. no sense on a bike I am just gonna street ride.  | ||

So am I the only one that has noticed with the new setup, that the rotor is no longer mounted to the rim, but to the hub? It looks to be about the same size, but it is most definitely not a ZTL setup. That's a single floating disk. | ||

That's not on the EBR; he posted the pic to show a clear view of the super bike fork. The EBR front brake disk is definitely still rim-mounted. | ||

Here's another pic of the WSBK fork and front brake on the EBR 1190RX race bike (from a thread in the road racing sub-forum). You can clearly see that the brake rotor is still rim-mounted:  | ||

Is the aluminum box above the shock in this pic a gas tank? Yes, they had to add an auxiliary gas tank to get enough total capacity (~1.5 gallons more IIRC) to finish a typical WSBK race. | ||

 This is the OEM RX scoop, made out of plastic. Also note the OEM forks and aluminum wheel. | ||

I wonder if the case slider in Steeleagle's link will fit 1125's? The side cover cases are the same on both bikes correct? Those look cleeeeaaan. | ||

I will venture to say that the switch to gas charged forks facilitated different caliper mounting points, facilitating a different caliper, facilitating a different air scoop. I doubt there is anything more too it than that. | ||

didja see that Ducati MotoGP now has their own 2-opening caliper scoops? Ducati had problems with overheating their carbon brakes, so tried some scoops to aid cooling. They have now been allowed to run larger diameter discs so cooling shouldn't e such an issue. It is funny how only Ducati have reported this issue yet everyone runs the same brakes in MotoGP (except gresini who continue with Nissin I think). On Friday some MotoGP bikes were running with blanking plates over the brakes to get them hotter in the cool wet weather! | ||

Carbon can perform better than steel, but needs to be in the right temp range to do so. |
