Looks homemade to me. Though I have heard of people putting Thunderheader megaphones on tubers. I think Thunderheaders have a one-piece reverse cone though. I could be wrong. |

I'm out of my mind to contradict FMJ, but I had read that the Thunderheader was the best performing exhaust for a Sportster in the mid-90s. Poor cornering clearance on the Sporty so I ditched mine. Had a lovely note but loud enough to set off car alarms at half throttle and 4K rpm. |

I had Thunderheader pipes on my ElectraGlide. The motor had a lot of performance mods and ran great. But the exhaust was extremely loud. (Message edited by essmjay on April 22, 2014) |

Looks like a "RPM" pipe for a TWO-STROKE !!! |

Au contraire. The gap underneath the rear hanger in that pic created an "anti-reversion" by sending a pulse back up the pipe from there, instead of from the end of the pipe, which smoothed out the mid-range. Something like that. It was 20 years ago that I read the article. |

I have a thunderheader on my '93 sportster, makes the V&H on the S-3 sound muted by comparison. wonderful "hooligan" pipe - no problem tuning CV - |

I had a thunder header muffler on a Buell race header (S2). I don't think I ever dyno'd that combination, but for about six months we lived in a housing development and it was just too loud for that environment... |

They have a big hole in the middle of rpm range, hard to tune it out even with an injected bike. On a dyno run we would hold a 2x4 over the muffler til bike was through the "hole" to show the owner. Way better pipes out there for Buells and HD's. |
