Just curious ... Does the Chain Tensioner Pulley sound like somebody blowing into a Kazoo when you let off the throttle? I've been told its normal ... |

The race kits do this. It's the chain against the chain rub, not the idler, actually. The RX uses a different idler -- it looks a more durable, really -- than the race kits. So it might contribute to the noise. But, yes, it's rather normal. Get back on the gas. |

Power flow suggests chain should be tight on bottom and loose on top on decel. Chain tightened to spec is 30mm clearance on top. If the chain is rubbing the chain rub on decel, that is a hefty amount of stretch to make contact. |

This bike definitely requires pre ride chain tension checks. I have never had a bike require as many adjustments so early on. It seems to have settled in now but the first 1000 miles it seemed I needed to adjusted it after every couple of rides. The bike has all sorts of mechanical sound character. Uneven firing order at idle, deep bark while on the gas, induction rush in the tuck and jet like whine on decel with a few pops thrown in for seasoning. LOVE IT! |

I did not check chain tension .. I assumed it would be correct since its brand new. Is the proper technique for adjusting the chain in the owners manual that came on the USB stick? |

The chain definitely rubs the upper on decel, at least on the race kit. You can put the bike on a stand and see it easily just spinning the wheel forward. |

Yep, its easy... bike on its side or a rear stand, lift chain directly above upper chain rub. Should be 30mm play between the bottom of the link and bottom of the upper chain rub. Unlike quite a few other MFG's I can think of, the adjustment indicators on both sides of the bike actually line up within a couple thousands on my bike. Not only impressive but finally useful! |
