So I need to replace the rocker box gaskets on my X1, is there anything I need to know before starting? I have the factory service manual as a guide. I found a set of Accel gaskets are they any good? Thanks for any advice. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Accel-Rocker-Box-Gasket-Ki t-for-1991-2003-Sportster-/110833683089?pt=Motorcy cles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19ce33ca91&vxp=mtr |

You will need to cut down an allen wrench to access the right rear top allen bolt. Other than that, remember to watch the difference between inch pounds and foot pounds. |

IF you have to change them anyway, you could consider going to the XB boxes and PCV valves. Or not. |

I did mine not to long ago. Its not that bad of a job really. You can get it done in one day by yourself. Just follow the steps ad you will be fine. Also give your local HD dealer a call. They sold me every gasket I needed for much less then anywhere I found online. I was surprised. |

The new HD gaskets (not so new anymore really) work well. I've used them many times with good results. That being NO LEAKS! |

+1 .... While you're in there... Switch to the XB style rocker box covers and a catch can.... Big difference! Also make sure you get the one piece lower gasket design. And as long as you're in there.... Do your push rod tube bases leak? Perfect time to upgrade to what I found to be an excellent upgrade, easy to install and no issues, worked so well I've done it to three motors now! I've switched to the collapsible pushrod tube covers with billet one piece bases and stock push rods. They work great! Zippers product sold through NRHS... Kind of a "down the rabbit hole" question....

Why stop there...While you're in there might as well upgrade to a 1250cc and a Baker 6 speed. |
