So I'm at 15,000 miles on my bike with the original stator and I want to keep it that way. I'm thinking of removing the HD recall fix thingy but I have heard good and bad things about doing it. The only reason I'm thinking about it is because on one of my last rides the volts kept on getting lower and lower until I got home and it was at about 10 volts. Today I started it up after being on the tender for a few days and it stayed at 12.2 volts. I heard that removing the fix you can have your volts be up around 14 which I rarely see. Anyone with experience? |

The relay fix just drops one of the phases out to reduce the voltage and temp. If you're having issues with the voltage dropping continuously, try replacing the relay first. I've heard they go bad pretty quickly. |

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say your stator is already toasted. |

So I understand what HD was trying to do with this fix. I guess I'm wondering if this was a proven fix (or at least improvement). Will keeping the fix on help prolong my stator (if it's not toast yet)? |

It is an improvement, not a fix.

Yes, but only for so long. The only fixes are to keep the RPMs in the upper half of the rev range as much as possible, or get the modified rotor cup. |

Your stator is toast. That's exactly what happened when mine went the first time. Get a new one and an oiling rotor and you'll be good to go after that. After doing those two things pull the harness and just get it out of there, it will no longer be needed. |

Sounds like the stator. Get the EBR rotor fix and be happy. |

That link just disconnects it. I'm not a fan of rat nest building blocks, so i removed the entire thing and reclaimed some space under the seat. |
