Not done yet; it won't be that long off the back! Thanks to my brother, who is a very skilled blacksmith/metal worker. Unfortunately, he lives 2 hours away and we can only work on this on an occasional weekend. I hope to have it done before our 2nd annual trip to Deal's Gap in a few weeks! |

Blacksmiths are generally really cool - nice work. I'd be cautious about overloading that thing, though - It looks like it would support a VW Microbus - but I fear the rear isolators would complain. |

Yeah, my tail bag isn't very big or heavy; prob 15-20 lbs full. It will also sit mostly over the passenger seat. Rails are 1/2" square tubing, so the rack itself isn't very heavy. I'm gonna add a driver backrest that'll attach to the rack as well. |

If the isolators can hold up another person, they can hold up whatever you're likely to want to carry on the rack. Looks great! |

I grew up in that shop working w/my dad, who is also a blacksmith, and both my brothers. It was cool to be back in there making stuff, since I don't get to do much of that sort of thing as a HS music teacher. |

Not totally done, but wanted to use it on a trip to Deal's Gap at the end of this week! Planning to add an adjustable driver's back rest then a nice powder coat to finish it off, rather than rattle can black. Would look totally awesome chromed, but too expensive! I'll post more pics when we're totally done. |
