Fork brace: SuperBrace. It's a well made nicely fitting part. Tell them we sent you! As far as a steering damper, anything that fits and is adjustable. That being said, it's not as easy as it sounds. Kawasaki "H2" (3 cylinder 2 stroke triple from the 1970's) steering damper is cheap, fits and is adjustable. They were on eBay, but I haven't checked. I'm sure lots of others fit, but which ones?! The H2 unit is easy to find and mount. |

Superbrace installed. Won't get a chance to try it out for a bit as the weather is not good for a spell now. Put 300 miles or so on the Blast this week....came home and the brace had been delivered. Crazy wind and rain going on right now.

Your going to love the difference the brace makes in handling. EZ |

If the front end doesn't easily bounce or rock up and down, it's probably been shimmed already. If you pull up on the handlebars and can't get more than an inch upwards pull, then it's probably already shimmed. |

So - really probably not a noobie question, but I'd like to get the answer (and list) in one place as the threads are all over the map on this. Looking to put the Jardine muffler on the bike as the current V&H is ????? old, probably no packing, and there's no option for a quiet baffle for it. The Jardine seems to be one of the favorites here (also interested in the D&D, but that one looks LOUD). My current setup doesn't even have the front bend mount on the lower front engine at all. The current pipe is attached at the engine header and the aft bracket near the kickstand. That's it. It's rock solid, but I wanted to be clear I have none of the hardware for the lower front engine mount. So the threads say to get the stock mounting hardware to mount the Jardine. Can I get a one-stop list of what I need for that hardware here? |

Why not repack the V & H? sorry, no time for the part #s list |

It's so old that trying to get it off to repack it will most likely completely destroy it. I'd be VERY surprised if any of the screws, etc. actually worked vice just tore themselves out. |

Superbrace rode well today (about 20-25 miles). Very, very solid. That being said, I'm sure the forks are shimmed, etc. already on this bike (both "tests" were positive, Erik), so the difference isn't night and day. I'm sure on a stock setup it would be amazing. On mine, it went from super solid in turns and braking to rock solid in turns and braking. Hope that makes sense. |

I couldn't find the link to start a new thread so I am hijacking this one! Went for my first ride the other day, just around the neighborhood to get used to using the turn signals, braking, stopping and starting. I noticed my turn signals did not cancel after I made the turn. Should the turn signals self-cancel? I think I broke something when I installed the new turn signals. |

No, they are not self canceling. They can be made to self cancel with $$$ |

Erick, Tell me where to spend the $$$$ to make the turn signals self cancel. I know if I get killed on a motorcycle it will be because I forgot to switch the turn signals off after I make a turn. Kenny G |

Erik, Quick question - you have the D&D exhaust on your Blast, correct? If you do, what's your take on it? |

Don't think so. But I have owned one, and for a stocker type Blast it is the perfect exhaust, will last forever, just give it fresh coats of paint - hi temp ceramic black or bbq black paint - lol - more power than a V&H, a bit loud, but the sound is deeper as well, and if you seriously step up your engine, you can buy the Jardine header by itself for about 120, still use the stock lower front hardware for mounting, mount the D&D can onto it, and you'll have an awesome hi- performance exhaust. Any issues with the welds, etc. for the D&D? The retailers say it's a full system - anything else I need to buy (other than gasket for the head/pipe interface)? |

No - I really liked mine for the daily rider, since it didn't have to many mods, it really brought the motor to life in response, a totally solid system, Maggie has put tons of miles on hers with no issues as well, like I said - just touch up the paint job, when it looks like it needs it, and it will last forever. No packing needed as well - can't ask for a better stock replacement exhaust. EZ |

D &D is loud!! Higher pitch and louder than the V&H. If the D&D truly has the large inlet, try and buy the muffler seperately. Bolt it on to the V&H headpipe and you'll save money and get an exhaust that will accommodate more extensive mods (beyond the basic B50 cams, etc.). The full D&D is a really good exhaust for a Blast with basic mods. But you can step up from there. The Jardine with a custom can. Custom headpipe with any muffler you want, etc. How much do you want to spend, how long will you keep the bike, how modified will you make it? Remember, you're looking at a bike with 30hp. Gains will be minimal between the different pipes. That being said, with only 30hp, you can easily strangle the life out of it with the wrong custom exhaust. That's my take. I have only ridden a bike with the D&D, I didn't own it! |

I'll try to answer the questions, Erik, to help the discussion. - Don't plan on selling the bike ever if I can help it. - As far as modifications, I'm planning on putting Dan's Superboot/intake system on there at some point later this year (after the move). That plus another exhaust (and appropriate jetting/air screw setting) is about it. I'm already set on spark plug preference (Brisk). Not planning on diving into the engine itself unless needed. Do plan on doing the transmission (shift/pawl, Energy One, etc.) at some point. That really covers all the "mods" I plan to do. Pretty much a stage 1 with some hardware changes in the tranny. 3. As far as spending, I don't mind putting out a bit for a great solution. That being said, the worry for me is having all the parts necessary (correct mounting hardware/gasket/etc.) vice the cost. I'll turn the wrench to install the system, but I'll need to know what I need to have to do it. Love the concept of the Jardine - prefer the look and upkeep of the D&D (black). Worried about all the posts about hardware failing on the Jardine and welds cracking, etc. Does that help? Jay |

With the Jardine - you just want to use the same basic rubber mounting front bottom hardware that the stock bike used - prevents header issues, etc. - the cans for both the V&H and Jardine will die in about the same amount of time, unless your real careful about keeping them packed and avoiding speed bumps and curbs - lol - that is why the D&D can is so cool - the last step of the D&D header is 1 3/4" which is what both the Jardine and V&H headers are as well. People ask why I prefer the Jardine header over the V&H - the answer is the bends in the Jardine are much less severe allowing for much better performance - for a single every little bit counts that can be easily had, should be taken advantage of. I actually compare the D&D to a badly packed V&H but deeper - booth are loud. An old Kerker with no packing was the second loudest but tinney I've heard, and my Force pipe was definitely the loudest - big twin loud - lol - I gave that away even though it produced the most power of all the factory made pipes. The custom pipe that Terry P. made and gave me made the most power, and with a Supertrapp can with 18 discs it made more power than any of the rest including the Force, and was about as loud as a Pro-series exhaust - very quiet. Hope that helps in your decision. EZ |

Any part numbers for the front lower hardware? that's what I'd need to do to go for the Jardine - and the dealerships around here are going to be clueless about Blast parts unless I have the part numbers. |

Here are the part numbers for the stock lower front exhaust mount: C0513.T spacer (metal sleeve) C0154.T spacer (metal with rubber bushing) S0156.T grommet(rubber, need2) BA0511.2Z washer (2 needed) AA0516.1CZ bolt DA0500.10CZ locknut I just put a SuperTrapp on a Jardine header, so I'm also trying to get all the parts as well. Hard to find all parts in one place with cheap shipping. |
