last Saturday I road tripped and picked up Joebuell's 2009 CR (http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/21/ 720873.html?1396149405) I've got a K&N and a Jardine fender eliminator on the way. I plan on a race ecm and exhaust when I can afford it (question about that, if I buy the ecm for a stock exhaust can it be sent in and reflashed later? or should I just do it all at once?) Anything I should look out for besides stator (it's had the Harley fix harness on it since mile 1 according to Joe)? (Message edited by harleyms on April 02, 2014) |

The EBR ECM's can be sent in and reflashed for a fee (last I checked $95), but if it was mine I'd just wait and do both once and save yourself the hassle of shipping and the extra $$. My '09 had the Harley band-aid harness since ~600 miles and it still fried the stator at ~4,000. If I were you I'd skip the exhaust and ECM for now and do the rotor swap first. Save yourself the coin of having to replace the stator before it actually goes bad. Also plan on updating the clutch slave cylinder to either the EBR or Oberon units. I'd do the rotor and slave cylinder first thing, because they ARE both going to fail, and it sucks not being able to repair your bike when it breaks cause you spent the money you would have used to fix it on non-essential things like exhaust and ECM's. :-) |

I figured it would be a "do it all at once" thing. I take it the EBR rotor will help the stock stator last? I suppose your suggestion of fixing the known problem areas before they are a problem makes the most sense My plan is to set it up as sport/tour type machine, so trouble free is good. Thanks for the input btw...the 1125 is a whole world different than the S1W, I hadn't even sat on one till I made it home with this one. (Message edited by harleyms on April 02, 2014) |

welcome! I have an S1 and a CR too! the 2003+ lightning pegs are 1 inch lower, excellent for sport touring and comfort. The lightning pegs very inexpensive compared to aftermarket ones. Saddlemen has an excellent seat for touring. |
